What are EVE Online most iconic ships?

Hey everyone :)

I did some searches here in the forums, and in google about "iconic eve online ships", just to find out that there doesn't seem to be any iconic or special "this is eve" kind of ship lists. All i got was entries about "what is the best mission running ship" or "what is the best all around ship in eve".


But when it comes just to "what ship represents eve" or "what are the most recognizable ships in eve" or "what ship do you see when you think about eve online" then you barely find anything.


See it from an "outsider" point of view who never played eve. Who may have seen advertisements, news or videos. If he saw a picture of a ship, what would make him think "hey isn't that one from eve"?


I think there should be something like a "most iconic ships in eve" or "ships that represent eve" kind of list.



One that comes for sure to mind is the Rifter. No other ship has been seen or connected to eve as often as that one in pictures in news.. in advertisements.. it is even in the last decade pack, so that one may be a "cult" ship.


What other ships would make it on such a list?

Anything with a physical model.

Tier 2 battleships
Apocalypse - Tempest - Raven - Megathron

And of course the rifter.

Not a forum alt.

Hard question to answer as it's so subjective.

For me it would be the Raven, Scorpion or Megathron

Raven - CCP likes it so much that they even put lasers on it for one of their videos screenshots.

Rifter - every rifter counts, right?

Apocalypse - dunno why. I just think a fleet of Amarr battleships is a nice sight.

Nyx - seems to be the most famous super capital.

Leviathan - The not-so-mighty-anymore Caldari Titan hat could be seen in high sec.


In general I'd say that EVE has many cool ships, so it makes the choice very hard.

I'd say the rifter in terms of media presence. It's in an awful lot of their trailers and adverts.

I remember when I asked an old corpie how do I get better at pvp and his response was "Get a bunch of rifters and die in every single one of them" (nowadays I tell sorta the same thing to newbies, but replace "rifter" with "T1 frigates"; but ah, the nostalgia...)

Plus, the rifter was like that first crack hit: You get in it, fight, and gloriously fireball it and think to yourself "THAT WAS AWESOME I HAVE TO HAVE MOAR!!!!" and before you know it you're sitting in a carrier repping POS shields thinking "wtf how did it come to this?". And CCP smiles and dangles a dime bag in front of you.

...or maybe that's just me ~_~;;...

Personally, the most iconic ship was the scorpion...the old one. It was even vertical!!--if you kinda cover one eye, **** your head to the side, and dim the lights...

ECM...TD...SD...TP...Pick an acronym, I'm an equal opportunity annoyance ^_^

The Rifter is the most iconic ship in Eve. It was the king of frigate PvP for a very long time for so many reasons, it looks awesome, and it has been featured in a ton of Eve media. Moreso than any other ship as far as I can tell.

CCP Sreegs is my favorite developer.

Many posters have said the Rifter and they are quite correct. But there are actually many iconic boats that fit the OP's question:

Hulk - just look at the issues around that boat.

Rattlesnake - this used to be the go to boat for soloing lvl 5 missions until the Devs removed them from hi sec. Now, it is the classic passive shield machine for any situation with neuts.

CNR - need I say more ?

Catalyst or Thrasher - for all those past, present and future hi sec ganks.

I think the list could go on, but that is up to the rest of the forum posters.
