I don't get it...

When I come to the forum, I see posts from people crying about their Orca, Freighter or 3bil fit missionbear Tengu being ganked...

Ok, they wanna vent some of their frustration... fair enough,

But why do they refer to it like it's some kind of exploit... or bug... or something that shouldn't be happening?

They ask questions like: "CCP - what are you going to do about this?" / "CCP - how are you going to stop this?"

Some of these players have been playing for 8.9,10 years... surely they know the game by now?

This is EVE... your Jump Freighter CAN and WILL be ganked, that is EVE... yano... the game you have been playing for 10 years?

You should adapt to the game, the game should not adapt to you.

Ok... I'll bite. There are some of us that don't want to PVP. For whatever reason, be it, they want to relax after a long day at work and sit in a belt and chew up rocks, or do missions, or move large volumes of things around, that is what they want to do. And they want to be left alone to dot hat.

Others, want to fight. That is how they relax and have fun. Both ways are acceptable in this game. Saying one or the other is wrong just adds to the anger.

I mine on my main, so that others can build the ships that you fight in, the modules that your equip on those ships, and the ammo you shoot. So that you don't have to. You keep blowing up the stuff, and I will keep making sure that there will be stuff for you to blow up. It is a win win situation.

I am having the opposite problem.

I always have a reasonable Tank to Cargo / Fit ratio in High Sec and I never just get bothered. No one wants to blow up my Transports, Battleships or Skiffs. I beg them to pay attention to me too but they never do.

They all must hate me or somethin... Cry

Because it is either an exploit or bugs in 99% of other games.

People in EvE don't see it that way because EvE isn't like the other games (this is a game that crime is acceptable, something that MMOs don't, as it's not acceptable in real life).

Play more games and see what's acceptable in them across genres to get a real answer to your question (not asking a control group removed from conventions in gaming -- as crime and it's acceptance isn't the norm in games).

And it's that mentality of a criminal that can't see past his behaviors to give an unbiased answer anyway. If any does exist it'll be dripping with a whopping dose of sarcasm and ball stretching for tears.

I have no idea, OP. This is my main mining character (I have three mains on the one account) and this one was ganked in Hi Sec the other week.

My fault entirely and I could have got away before CONCORD sorted it out but I didn't. I sent off a "Good Gank" message and then bought another mining vessel and carried on.

I reckon that I get ganked about once every three months, I get ganked and lose the ship about once a year. It's the game; I don't see the problem.

As they say, Working As Intended.

Every MMO.

And don't pull that gimmick that EvE is a sandbox either as an excuse.

If it's not designed by the devs as a mechanic, but players discovered it and used it to their advantage, it is an exploit.

Can do the roach dance. Twist words. Troll. It doesn't change the definition.

It's called, standards. Any genre can't exist without them, or it wouldn't exist as a genre. Idea

eve is its own genre. you could remove highsec ganking but you would have to completely change the game because of all the things it would break

I've been looking at these forums for quite a few months and do you know what I don't see that often?

Quote:

More often I see - posts about Goons, posts about how all the real money is in high sec, posts about how all the real money is in null, random posts by drunks and the naive, posts about carebears, posts about PvP "Fairness" (doesn't exist BTW), posts about the server being offline and people not getting their fix( not that often, but still more than "I wus ganked" threads), posts about "exploits" (which also don't exist. See "fairness and drunks). And so forth. Typical MMO forums (though very slow). You get the picture.

No it isn't.

No game is a special snowflake. Sandbox doesn't mean a game is totally removed by the standards of gaming.

That you're defending whatever shows the convention in a nutshell (if EvE was truly totally different, you'd careless).

you know why the devs never do any thing because they love your tears when u cry about getting ganked. im a high sec miner/freighter pilot i expect to get ganked but i get the last laugh because i have 28 days to have u ganked all i have to do is sell my kill rights and watch as someone takes them out Twisted

did you all forget there a way to sell kill rights?

if they have a bounty and u sell kill rights ooh payday for the one who kills them problem solved

ps; sell kill rights for a 100 k to a mill and you will get paid because there are bounty hunters out there

PVPers and Ganker get Kittend off when u threten there ez way of life with a change to something that would challenge them

there are no "standards". there are games where you grow trees to pay off your debt to a raccoon and games where you play a doctor who shoots needles at people
