Race/gender changer

I don't like any of the appearance options my current character has. I'm willing to pay to change to a race/gender of my choice to get an appearance I'd prefer. Please make this an option.

I know there is a piece of lore that says capsuleers need to be resurrected in bodies similar to the one they died in. That piece of lore is a problem for anyone who cares about the lore. That problem can be fixed by a new piece of lore saying that the resurrection process has been improved via new technology.

Longer explanation of why I want a race changer
My character is an Achura because, back when I made it, Achura characters had better attributes than any other bloodline. I know I'm not the only one to have gone Achura for that same reason. Since then, two things have happened:
- CCP gave us neural remapping, which changed attribute allocation from being determined by bloodline to being determined by the players choice. Removing any attribute difference between races.
- The captains quarters arrived. When it did, we had to throw out our old character portraits and design an avatar in a different art style. I remember liking the old Achura male, I don't like the new one.
CCP have invalidated both of the reasons that caused me to chose Achura in the first place. But I am still stuck with a decision I made before CCP changed the facts.

Came to this thread, was expecting the proposal of a new weapon that will permanently change the race and gender of your target.
Left disappointed.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Pretty sure some amarrian codex permits the action of DNA-modyifying once it's gotten its capsuleer's seal of approval.

That could be very entertaining.

Good idea, given that ccp say in their own trailers that thanks to cloning technology you can have any appearance you like I don't see anything wrong with changing your clone every now and again to any racial pattern or gender. Perhaps it could be regulated by the infomorph psychology skill.

So you chose FOTM and CCP changed it later on...I'm sorry but I can't support this idea. Cause and consequence.

Why not ?
Every other time the FOTM changes, CCP lets players change to adjust for it. Sure, there is a cost involved (training new skills, buying new gear) but I'm not asking for this change to be free. I'm expecting that CCP charges for it the same why they charge for other cosmetic changes.

You got lucky that the bloodline you chose in character creation is one that you liked after Incarna. If you want to claim your choice was anything but luck, please tell me how you knew that Incarna would even exist back when you created your character.

Tell me, were you arguing against Neural Remapping when it was added because of "Cause and consequence" ?
You know, back when your character was probably at a disadvantage at learning things compared to an Achura because of higher charisma.

What about when the Achura characters were added while older players like yourself were stuck with the bloodlines that existed when their characters were made ?

I see CCP trying to milk us, in a few months it be like sex change for a PLEX.. then in a few months it be like Race change for a PLEX.. vicious cycle.

Ah now you've mentioned a cost (apologies if I missed it initially) then why not. I could get behind this if the cost for it were significant to make people really think about whether they wanted to do it and with a time restriction like Neural Remaps but more severe like maybe once every 5 years or something. And not using PLEX to pay for it! Everything seems to be "use PLEX for this" these days.

Oh and I didn't get lucky, I read the history and the background of my race before I chose to create it and wouldn't change it for all of Eden, it's who I am. My old avatar was fugly (well they all were) before Carbon.

Good points OP, well played Sir.

EDIT: Reading back over this I'm still undecided. You had the advantage before they leveled the playing field and those of us who didn't choose the FOTM were "disadvantaged" by our choice but now you would like to change your race because you don't get that advantage anymore. I think maybe it's time you live with having the "advantage" of your races selection on avatar clothing etc since you enjoyed the benefits before it was changed.

I'm quite split on this (as you can tell) between "Hell no! Live with it" or "WTF not". Leaving this now.

Sorry, no sympathy for you. You made your decisions based on the fact that you wanted the most attribute points possible, now that the attributes have been balanced.... all of a sudden you want to change race and gender.

Not supported.

I think it would add to the sci fi feeling of immersion being able to routinely change your sex or appearance, or even get a grotesque appearance with some bizarre/high fashion items to wear. By the way, I am happy with my appearance and chose my character background for reasons of lore. But I support people who would like to be able to change this.

Based on the new "origin" trailer it should be possible. I remember them saying something about uploading brain data and putting it a new body . . .

maybe an option to change race or gender for a plex

I want space-breasts!

On a serious note, I think the current sculpting engine offers tons of possibilities to make your toon unique and likeable for you. If you can not stand him at all, sell him and buy a similarly skilled one from the Character bazaar?

This seems such a silly problem I am amazed you even posted. Or that I replied Shocked

If you change the sex of your character, then you MUST post in your bio that you have done so. We don't want any... surprises... in the captains quarters of our fellow pilots. Ugh

Sex change, yes.

Race change, no.
