I will try to post more later (specifics) but just know that AMD is so maligned in the game world and more recently benchmarks have been updated on at least one site. Intel is better suited for single core optimized games we know, though I haven't had any problems.

I have an AMD FX 8350 and it's a multitasking beast. Someone more techy than me would have to tell you if it can use more cores efficiently with multiple EVE clients as opposed to its closer Intel equivalent.

I found this site useful for builds and pricing. Tom's Hardware -- with caution.

Also, very happy with Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 mobo (there are some higher tier with more bells and whistles, PRO version probably better for SLI/Crossfire). I poured through reviews and there were more complaints on Gigabyte for one reason or another.

Built this PC recently with a FX-8350 stock @ 4.0 GHz. Haven't lagged in EVE once, have been in a few big fights with it. It's VERY good at multitasking and high-load programs other than EVE, too.

Would you say the MSi 990FX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130649) is good at Crossfire/SLI?

To be honest, I'm not pro at this or anything -- I just research stuff to death and have vintage experience I rely on. My outdated PC certs are older than some people playing this game. lol

But one thing I know is "the word on the street" is that MSI boards paired with AMD CPUs are/were a real gamble as of last year with allegedly high failure rates. If it's working now, that's probably in your favor.

You can probably find out more googling then having to wade though comments.

If that's the board you have, I'd be cautious about pushing it with the AMD conflict until ya read up on it.. Spec wise I think it's closer to the Asus Sabertooth which is a fine board to my knowledge.

You might be OK ...I don't know what the actual risk is be it 5 or 15%, nor when such is likely to occur if it is going to happen.
