1 Webber + 4 Medium combat drones vs. NPC frigs... Any good?

Just a thought I had...

I like using Medium drones as they do a lot better dps vs. NPC cruiser/BC size ships on L4's. But I also hate dealing with their slower kill times on NPC frigates.

Has anyone ever tried using a web drone (to slow frigates) while 4 medium drones eat it alive? Next question, would I be better using a light or medium size webber drone to webify the frigs? (I'm assuming light)

dont have any experience with them, but I think you're better off with a 5th med or even a light instead of a med drone, seeing a light web drone reduces speed by 5% and med by 10%.

You could fit a drone tracking link in one of your med slots if oyu can spare the slot, I got one fitted if I can spare it, and it does seem frigates die faster to my medium drones then. Off crouse a webber in that slot will be a bigger help but sometimes its nice not to have to target/web every single frigate

First off, the angular velocity between the drone and the target is primarily caused by the fast orbit speed of the drone. Whether or not the target is moving quickly isn't going to make a damn bit of difference unless the target is actually outrunning the drone. Medium drones miss small targets because medium drones have the signature resolution of medium turrets.

Furthermore, web drones in general (and a single light drone would be even worse than a single medium drone) aren't going to slow down anything enough to be worthwhile.

Just use light drones or, if you have the bay and can create enough distance, sentries.

Even if it should look fine in theory, it probably won't work in practice due to the new AI drone aggro. Medium drones draw fire from anything that is smalller than a BS over time ... And esp. fast from elite NPCs. Combined with their slow recall time and the sometimes ludicrous speed at which rats kill drones just don't expect your medium drones to last too long out there.

Stick to light drones. Medium and heavy drones are pretty much dead for PvE unless at really really close range or if e.g. in the case of medium drones only BS are left on the field.

T1 lights for clearing frigs, T2 mediums for BS. fits nicely in a 75m3 drone bay
