Meta 4 Item price jumps

I was just wondering when the price of Meta 4 Items started to jump. I had bought around 15000 F-90 sensor boosters over the past 1-2 years for less then 500k each and now they are over 1 mil and rising.

My question is are they rising because of a increased cost to make T2 Sensor Boosters or because they are the same stats with not having to have Long Range Targeting 4

Meta 4s are often flexible in prices plus they used to not be worth enough to move to a trade hub. Now they are worth it, so supply is increasing. Market working as intended.

Meta 4s used to be crazy expensive, they have been insanely low for quite a while

Supply and demand. In war the most used items are meta 5 (tech 2) and meta 4's, espcially when the meta 4's have the same stats as meta 5. Less people doing missions and more people getting their ships destroyed. Or it might be something else who knows, Economics is a fickly b *****.

Peeps from FW drop into Jita, buy up what they need and GTFO back to their lowsec.

Meta can sometimes be better then T2 in some cases and price is a factor when your throwing together 20 ships, instead of 15M a ship why not cut the average down to 12.5M a ship, thanks to Meta items its possible with some fittings.

I trade meta 4 items since 2009. Remember the meta 4 (f.e. medium f-s9 shield extender was about 6-7 mil till the big drone patch (think 10 2012) was launched. Than all meta 4 went down bei 80%. Now the are increasing. Since that patch a lot of new shiptypes are in the game and they all need fittings. Additionally there are more players. I think that are the reasons for the higher prices.

Sometimes the Gods change game mechanics, see Nos. Rise just announced a possible change in how they work (they will be better then) and someone bought up all meta 4 stuff. Some hours later the same happened to mostly all Faction and Deadspace stuff.
Sometimes you get lucky....

And yes meta 4 was way back then very very profitable. I can remember i dumped Leocaldari some 10mn MWDs (forgot the meta 4 name of it) when the price crashed.

Meta 4 items are really volatile in price.

The lovers' spat between Goons and Test is driving a big increase in demand for certain hulls and modules and also means many bad 0.0 PVPers (those that 'keep a highsec alt to fund their PVP') aren't running missions at the moment because they are shooting towers instead of red crosses.

Lower supply, higher demand.

Once Goons and Test either make up or Test failcascade, this will end (and if Test failcascades, there'll be a massive increase in supply as half their members limp back to highsec to lick their wounds and start shooting red crosses again).

I was in jita the other day, bought a meta 4 item for 15k or something, same stats with less cap use and fitting, as the t2 version which cost around 1mil. maybe I should go "correct" the market, but I don't really have the patience to deal with market orders.

You really can't, the supply is to big. Maybe if you invest in the range of 3 digit billions but that is a risky investment, the major problem is most Eve players are too stupid and will still buy the T2 stuff instead the better meta stuff. Very very few players compare the stats ingame or in EFT.

For things like weapons, people who buy T2 stuff are taking advantage of specialization skill and the fact the guns can load T2 ammo, which is enormously important. T2 stuff is also a lot of the time cheaper than the meta 4 equivalent because ratters will buy the meta 4, but there is obviously less supply of certain meta 4 items than there are of T2, and so T2 becomes cheaper than meta 4. I'd hardly call these players stupid since in many instances, T2 is vastly superior for the reasons I just mentioned.

No idea why the price is rising, but when I looked at the sales volume in Jita earlier this morning it was terrible. Will take a very long time to shift 1,500 of them. I guess that's why someone was trying to sell them cheaply in local.

This war cannot end. It's too good for business. We need to make sure it continues for as long as possible.

There's two main reasons people fit meta 4 or "best named" mods for null PVP.

1) They don't have the skills to fit tech 2 guns.
2) They don't have the grid or CPU to fit Tech 2 and the meta item has lower fltting requirements. This happens all the time with shield fits where you'll drop an extender from T2 to F-S9, or dropping to a meta prop mod from a T2.

The big exception is logi. Almost every logistics fit I've seen uses meta 4 reps.

Falling decryptor prices means it's more worthwhile to use meta 4 items to increase invention success chance.
