how do you expect this to win against any close/medium range amarr fleet, which is about 50% of fleets btw? hac or bs..........

I hate to break it to you but by the time you switch your "blaster drone dps" from target 1 to target 2 they would have already have killed 5 of your ships.

"the dps transition would be too dam slow" is my elaboration.........

This might work on small gangs of faction warfare. but it would never work in the real fleet battles.

I liked the post, but you should wait to see if they can be buffed.

good point. a lot of this is very much in my head and i probably failed at being clear.

medium range engagement (lets say 20-40km): rails do a good chunk of damage by this point using the medium range ammo, and turret boats could be carrying sentries to supplement this damage. the whole idea is that drone space would not be an issue for Gallente ships, allowing the switching between combat and sentry drones.

short range: combat drone speed is buffed enough using mods that ogres (for example) could be traveling at something like 3km/s.

makres absolute sense from a game lore perspective, which i always like.

honestly, with the right ship bonuses and such to drones, i could see it working. would be a major overhaul though, both to actually implement and to balance. that alone makes it unlikely to happen, as figuring out how ot make a system alreayd inplace or building a new one is alot easier.

Autocannons need their damage types nerfed or blasters should get more damage types, 80 kin 20 therm is the worst damage type ever always fighing high resists

perhaps you should read more carefully before deciding to show your troll teeth.

to repeat: no, rails work at ANY range. it becomes a very versatile turret. its optimal is modified by switching ammo. but its damage drops off quite a bit (say below 10km), and the player in turn uses combat drones to supplement this damage. in this iteration, the drones would have to be extremely fast (as modified by speed mods, rigs or buffs) to reach the target within 2-3 seconds lets say. combat drones are essentially mobile blasters.

this is only in the short range scenario; for medium/long ranges, the player will use sentries in combination with rails

Other than for Sniper fleets or blobing 80 kms is not an effective combat range in pvp, and Artys just have better alpha, blasters need to out dps artys at long range by a significant amount to be an alternative. For Hybrid boats to do pvp Blasters are a must, for Blaster boats to work, they have to catch what they are shooting at, either the boats have to get faster, the disrupter/scrambler/web has to be stronger, or the optimal falloff and tracking have to be looked at, honestly the race with the fastest ships in the game should have had the blaster weapon type, but thats a done deal, speed is a minnie thing and blasters are a gallente/caldari thing.
