Change mining lasers?

Hi there, i wonder if any DEV is aware of current mining laser working mechanics and are they planing to change it? Now when you mine an rock that has 1 unit in it, mining laser will complete full cycle before notifying you that this rock is empty. Is it possible to change that so you would mine that 1 unit and get notification/deactivation of laser right away?

You know that there is a scanner module that tells you this right?

Yes i know, but it's kinda pointless if you mine with multiple accounts. I remember seeing a post about this some time ago but i cant find it. I would like a dev response on this if possible

The thing is, if you are actively mining, paying attention to what you are doing... useing a roid scanner and manipulating your mining lasers, then you get the benefit of the increased productivity. Why should the game automatically do it, so people who are too lazy or want to sacrifice their ability to concentrate on one ship for boxing a fleet of ships, can have the same benefit.

Wait, (its been a long while since i mined), if you manually turn off your lasers, wont it finish its cycle anyway...? not saving any time.

I think that thread you are looking for was someone complaining that a second laser on the same roid would get nothing if the first laser finished its cycle and took the remaining minerals.

Correct me if i'm wrong but you are wasting crystals if you are turning lasers on/off all the time to prevent mining "nothing" from empty rock

Use scanner to avoid mining nothing.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

This, basically.

No, if you turn off your mining lasers they turn off and if you're mining an asteroid you get the proportion of the mining cycle in your hold. If you're mining ice you get nothing if you're mid cycle.

For active miners who use the scanner you can definitely avoid wasting cycles. This is why it was designed like this. The only thing CCP could do to improve the situation is to automate when your lasers turn off which removes the need for player interaction for optimisation purposes.

Therefore, -1 to the OP from me. An active player can already manage the optimisation of mining.

Thanks for confirming, its been a long time and I wasn't sure.

Fully agree with your comments... active player can gain better productivity by 'playing the game'.

Yes i know that all. I would only want for laser to turn off when there are no more ore in it. Because let's look at it logically. Your lasers are mining nothing for a full cycle (or 60-70-80% of the cycle)

I just want to know from a dev if they are going to change that.
