so i really like galente ships,a nd i really want to play a gunboat, this leave 2 choices, i can either run a megathron and be all dps'y with 350mm rails...

OR

fly a hyperion, nowhere near as sexy, 425mm rails, but i get an extra slot for the tracking computer... (why do none of these gunboats get 8 guns!!!)

the hyperion gets more tank, not sure where the mega wins out but in any case witch you figure woulkd handle lvl 4s better?

thanks for any and all opinions

Hyperion just got a nice update/upgrade.

Megathron is old news now when it comes to L4's.

Hyperion really stomps on the megathron right now for anything but close-range blaster builds, and a lot of mission running builds aren't going to use those. The navy megathron comes close to the hyperion's performance, but it's a bit of tradeoffs. Less tank for more gank, and its HP bonus over the hyperion is only around 43.7% EHP given comparable builds or 1875 shield and armor and 2500 hull in absolute numbers. Given that the hyperion's total HP pool is already 30k with all HP skills at 5 while a sizable boost it's not necessarily a very useful boost.

Hyperion is a pretty sick mission boat now for Serpentis work. You need good drone skills as well to make the most of it and the Domi is better though.

The new Hyperion is sick close to a Kronos in terms of performance. It is embarrassing to undock in a Kronos when there is a Hyperion around. The Megathron lost its awesome drone bay and only the Navy version still has it. The time of the Megathron's popularity is however over.

This is a dual fitting for the Hyperion, where one switches between blasters and railguns depending on the type of missions.

The blaster version is for missions with small pockets where one ganks everything with 1200 DPS at 6-7km range while it reps with up to 580 HP/s - fun is guaranteed. When you are low on cap do you vampire it from any BS within 25km range:

Large Armor Repairer II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I

Large Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I

Hobgoblin II x10
Ogre II x5

This can be switched to railguns, which then does 900DPS at 40km, and is useful for missions where the NPC battleships stay at range. The auto targeter is used passively to get +2 targets.
