Sentry or Heavy Drones?

Heya,

I have a hard time deciding here. Been reading a lot about both kind of drones, and I can see their advantages and disadvantages. I would be glad if I could get some feedback from people who tried both kind of drones in practise in different environment.

I do a lot of WH, class 2-3-4, and I came to love drones. I'm training to fly the Dominix properly, and I'm wondering if Heavy Drones or Sentry Drones are best for sleepers.

Also, which kind of drone would you suggest for for PvP, incursion and exploration sites? Or is it completely situational?

Thanks in advance!

Most is situational.

But roughly:

PVE - Sentries
PVP - Heavies

I dunno, I've mostly heard just sentries are better. You have range, projection, etc. Really only use heavies if you're close enough to facehump and recall them when they get shot up. Any other situation, use sentries.

I prefer sentries when it comes to mission running, as they apply DPS almost instantly and you can instantly scoop them up and quickly redeploy when they get aggro. Can't see them being alot of use in PVP overall though. (outside of certain situations)

Agree that sentries are far superior for PvE.

PvP is situational. A fleet of Domies, Myms, Prophs, Vexors with sentries all assisted to one person can do some very dirty things. Your primary assist, targets, fires... and things disappear from your over view. Heavies on the other hand allow you to remain mobile. It simply depends on the type of engagement.

Both kinds are for pve and pvp.

The big difference is that you get all sentry T2's by training them instead of having to train the racial skills.

If you plan on flying a drone boat get sentries first!
If you use the drone boat for missions get Beserkers second. (( Angel missions ))

If you are only using drones for pvp combat and fly ships that need to stay mobile (( Non-Drone boats )) get heavies first.
Try to use damage type that is different than your guns/missiles strongest damage type.
(( Not a big deal what you pick as long as it's not Amarr ))

If you are using a non-drone boat for missions get wasp first. These have the best damage/tracking/speed ratio.

Not really, sentries are quite often better than heavies in pvp too.

Sentries are basically superior in every way unless you need to move your ship, then you wantHeavies as you must always be near your sentries to babysit them or they are very vulnerable.
