I'm pretty sure the server bandwidth usage from auto-refreshing every two seconds or so wouldn't be much greater than the current bandwidth usage from people manually clicking every two seconds or so. With all the other "accessibility", "streamlining", "easymoding" and "dumbing down" that CCP's done everywhere else, it wouldn't hurt anyone if they did a "quality of life" improvement and gave an option to automate the bloody Dscan ping that everyone already constantly does all the time anyway.

I cannot technicaly anser that, but an auto-refresh should be disturbing cause sometimes you need to D-scan at a precise moment...

+1 to most things, but auto-refresh would not be good.

D-Scan is something that should be actively used. If it were automated it would be as much a problem as so many people have with local -- free easymode intel. Also, as OP said, "sometimes you need to D-Scan at a precise moment."
A hotkey would be perfect however. I'd love to use my mouse to actually fly my ship and/or aim the scan, while being able to hit, say, F, to scan.

Some of your ideas OP are already mentioned in here but I like most of what's been mentioned except the Auto-Refresh on D-Scan (see here for this kind of thread) and my reply to that was:

"It's called effort in = results out. What we DO need is a KB Shortcut for the "Scan" button to save our friend the mouse. And again, this has been suggested twice in the last week. Please search and add support to those who have posted this up before you...and join in their flames Twisted"

A Hotkey is required though...so much!!!
