I actually don't think it's against the rules. This is more of a discussion on how the community as a whole feels about religious preaching in Eve.

Personally...I don't like it if it's outside of RP context.

+1 OP

Keep it out of our game period. Peoples beliefs are their opinion in the real world but this is EvE. No talks of religion unless it is Amarr or something. I agree with the OP completely.

Religion is like a ****. It's nice that you have one, and totally fine to be proud of it. Just don't go waving it around in public, shoving it down peoples throats, and showing it to children.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

I have noticed on my jumping around the place that cans advertising religious messaging cropping up all over the place. Sadly it is the Christians that have instigated it and that annoys me.
This GAME is about relaxing - getting immersed in an alternate reality that has little to no bearing on many things in RL - politics and religion included (Eve roleplaying scenarios excepted). In my reality I do not include religious messages or do I want them and I want to see if they can also be removed from the game.

MY petition:

Either 1.) I move to have cans carrying ALL messages removed from the game AND/OR
2.) remove the capability for messages to be placed on cans AND/OR
3.) Give messaging cans a space life to self destruct

If you back this motion, pls post with +1.

If you have an alternative and possibly better suggestion that achieves the same end with reduced programming requirements, please post that here too.

Let me ask you something - have you read any of the chats while playing? Or listened to comms? Does none of that offend you? But some obscure can floating about with a Christian message offends you?

Really?

To be honest, I hate it when people try to inject RL into my MMORPG. I get enough real life. If I didn't, I'd be doing some of it instead of playing video games. But its not like I get to have a say over how someone else plays the game or spends their isk.

With that in mind, I think I'll anchor some cans with New Order slogans around so the OP has something better to read.

+1 to ideas about wardecing the corps. As a bonus I think you can even shoot their cans then too.

You better not fly around Amarr then...

all the agents bless, pray, proselytize, and preach the word of god :P

Next they'll want Amarr lore, and agent's mission text banned

oh

and god bless ya :P

I love uptight people who have nothing better to do.

After a few years I don't even bother to read the stupid cans.

But go ahead, it's an energy sink. Have fun.

Hopefully players will start putting all kinds of politically incorrect crap in can labels to energy-sink all those douchebags and ruin their time. Maybe it'll shorten their lives and we'll have less of them.

Ohhhhh doesn't it just make you sooooo mad? Umad?

As I recall, it was this sort of ninnying nanny crap that got the pleasure hub removed. So let's see - ah yes wipe all religion from the game, don't even let the Amarr RPers do it. Why not? We lost Gallente pleasure hubs - and probably to some bible thumpers too.

Eventually PVP is going to be considered bullying. It's only a matter of time before some kid hangs himself in the closet after getting awoxed or ganked. The media will use it to get whatever scandal going on off the news, as a distraction, and then you'll have parents who suck at parenting clamoring for "something to be done".

And CCP, being in Iceland will tell the American nanny-statists to shove it. Hopefully.

I approve the abolishing and ridiculing of all religions, regardless of time, space and medium.

Seriously, you dont see me advertinsing for marxism ingame, so keep your fairy tales out of my space tale.

Why do people get annoyed by seeing stuff they don't believe and/or don't care?

Also eve has a lot of politics

And to end here is an alternative remove cans from brackets and overview and your problem is problem solved

First, there are specific rules in place regarding messages left by players in game, they are covered by the Policies in general and specifically the Terms of Service.

T.o.S rule 2. You may not use any abusive, defamatory, ethnically or racially offensive, harassing, harmful, hateful, obscene, offensive, sexually explicit, threatening or vulgar language. (Alternate spelling or partial masking of such words will be reprimanded in the same manner as the actual use of such words.)

The EULA however states in subsection 2. D:

...Nonetheless, it is possible that at any time there may be language or other material accessible on or through the System that you may consider inappropriate or offensive to some users. You acknowledge that other players may transmit communications or content, or access to content, that you may consider inappropriate or objectionable. CCP does not, as a matter of policy, prescreen the communications or content transmitted by each player and is in no way responsible for the communications and content transmitted by players of the Game.

In essence it boils down to this: If the messages on the cans do not break the rules (see above T.o.S. rule 2 for example), you have agreed to be confronted with them by accepting the EULA and you will have to live with it.
Tip: ignore containers on the overview and/or don't read the messages in the container names.

If however you feel rules have been broken by any message in game, please feel free to file a support ticked.

Having said al the above regarding in game messages, I would like to point out that this forum has it's own set of rules. Discussing real life religions almost always leads to a lot of posts breaking many of those rules.
So please people, no discussing of any religion from this point on.

The ONLY reason I don't like it is that it spoils my immersion. Don't give a damn about what people believe in

No, it's not. In this game, violence is always a valid solution to a probelm. Granted, it might not always be the best one, but it usually provides the best explosions. Lol

Well, there's the newly updated naming policy, specifically, §2b:

In-game names may not:
[…]
· Reflect, glorify or emulate any real-world group or organization, terrorist society, criminal elements, discriminating organizations or their leaders and figureheads. This includes the use of names of real-world military, political or religious groups.
· Be obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, offensive, hurtful, harmful, promote drugs, profane, anti-gay, and ethnically, racially or sexually offensive or impart any real-world hostility toward a specific nationality, race or religion [something pretty much all religious messaging implicitly or explicitly encourages].
· In-game names include, but are not limited to: Character names, corporation names, alliance names and any other player-nameable item or entity within the game world.

…so it all depends on what's the cans say.
