EVE Online, the game where the players will happily scam you out of every in-game item you have, then invite you out for a beer afterwards.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

I started in 2008. I'm pretty new.

I started in 2007 and i didn't know you could ctrl+left click to target stuff till last year, even now i can't find the friggin undock button (i haven't flown in space during oddysey at all, CCP stole the undock button). Therefore I R more nub than you and I win.

I've been playing for about 6 months now and I have to say I am enjoying myself thoroughly and am quite impressed with the quality and level of game-play... it's awesome! Now, nothing's perfect, like the crazy spastic speed-head-nut-job camera and warp animations making people sick (it is a game to be enjoyed), but the daily bug fixes and awesome pew pew boom KABOOM is great. Thanks a bunch and fly safe!

Look at you with your enthusiasm and your ... your UGH you make me sick.

You're new until you become a bitter vet Blink

I started back in 2003, and I can say that I never hit "bitter vet" status.

I'm more of a "bitter noobvet"

I'm just bitter. Evil

If by nut job camera you mean it swings around when you click on things, there's a fix for it. Press the 'c' button while in space and make sure the 'use tracking camera' is unselected on the scanner window.

I don't see use tracking camera, but pressing c did wonders, thanks! Also, yea, here people are upfront about stealing your **** or blowing you up (usually) and you know you are a target all the time! ^.^ I saw someone trying to sell heavy missiles for 65,000 isk per xD Luckily, it's not like xbl where you have racist 10 year olds screaming into the mic >.> and you have a corp to run with! Awesome.

It's fun to be around enthusiastic players -- either that or it induces a bit of nausea.

Either way, best of luck.

That's because they don't have mics (they use local instead.)

And even when you pick your course, decide "this is my lil' bit of Eve I want to specialize in and love" you may soon realize how long the way is. The best part starts when people stop telling you what to do and you come up with something that works on your own.

Oh and of course there's forces of nature, one of those reportedly goes by the name "CCP Fozzie" that tend to appear out of nowhere and change everything.
