High sec 1v1 Dueling still broken.

The point was not at all to make duels fair. It was to give people a "legit" and quick way to fight each other in high sec. Before the duel function was implemented, people dropped cans and stole from them to initiate a duel. It worked, but it was also just a workaround, and since CCP remade the whole empire aggression mechanics thingy anyway, they implemented a legit and straightforward way to initiate combat with another capsuleer. I am certain it was never intended to make eve a space-honourable esports game.

The goon said "legit" Like a goon knows what that is.. LOL Stop with all the eve is not fair. This is one part of eve and it needs to be fair.

You can say it all day that eve is unfair. But it dose not change that have a 1v1 system that lets other become involved in is still a broken part of the game.

They did alot of things right with this game. and they have done alot wrong. This one is wrong. Just concord people and move on. Easy fix.

What's the saying? If you find yourself in a fair and balanced fight, you've both screwed up.

Offering a duel isn't offering a fair fight, it's offering to agree to tell concord not to bug you while you shoot at each other. Everything else is up to you. If you want a fair fight, work it out with your opponent. If you can't trust him to fight fair then don't.

And this is how they presented this "fair" dueling feature. It's pretty clear they were quite well aware how it would actually work.

I agree that your proposed solution to the problem is easy though. Easy and bad.

I see the mechanic described as offering a "Duel", not offering a "Guaranteed Fair and Equal Duel".

If you are concerned have some friends (or people you have hired) wait from those remote reppers to turn suspect.

The point of adding duels was not to create fair fights. Thats where you are falling down. CCP are VIKINGS they eat their guests! Do you know how many people have never returned from Fancest??? I dont either but I bet they could make an entire season of CSI out of it.

This. Duel with your Alliance mates, ex-corp members and friends if you want an honest 1vs1. The fact this system can be gamed makes it better, not worse.

I have never accepted a duel especially after I met a very experienced player in one encounter. Guy challenges me to a duel - he's in a Merlin, I'm in a Kestral. Hmmmm something fishy. So I declined it. Guy chats me and says Jimmy you made the right decision. I've got buddies just around the corner. I said yeah I thought something was up - so why are you running around challenging duels with backup? He said to see if any newbs are stupid enough to accept.

He turned out to be a really cool guy and talked to me for a long while giving me tips and such. But this leads to my question about dueling: If everyone in hisec wises up and doesn't accept a duel, and there are no duels, then what is the purpose for adding the dueling mechanic? I'm not asking for fair - I'm just wondering if everyone knows that a duel won't be a real duel but a slaughterfest, and no one engages in it, then it's worthless. Their can't be that many ignorant people left in hisec that don't know the lowdown of what a duel really entails.

The OP makes a valid point and deserves more than the trolling he has gotten. Not sure I agree with him, but he doesn't deserve to be trashed.

The moment you log into EVE, is the moment you say you don't want a fair fight.

Get used to it.
