Both of these would affect a ships maximum speed.

Driver Power Relay -15% max capacitor, + 15% max speed.

Drive Flux Coil -15% max speed, + 15% capacitor capacity. Or! +15% agility, -15% max speed.

Drive Power relays would be useful for pve/pvp ships expecting neuts, and transports. Drive Flux Coils would likely be for sniper ships and pve battleships.

These would be midslot modules.
These would suffer module stacking penalties.

I STRONGLY disagree. People already would give low slot for mid slot in 90% cases. Or let me mount mwd or ab in my low slot...

Especially in this case where you can use both LOW slots and RIGS to pimp your agility/ speed - i see no need for mid slots to enchance it even more (let's be honest you already gain most speed from med slot - mwd / ab / mjd).

Its an idea, I'm not that old in EVE, so I am looking for suggestions, and improvements to my idea.

What if the flux coil was a lowslot module, while the power relay could be a midslot.

Based on what they are doing, both would be low slot items, which are supposed to be base, mechanical upgrades to your systems. These are analogues to Shield Power Relays, Capacitor Flux Coils, etc...

The boosts that go in your mid slots are supposed to be pure electronic and near space/transmission type items. Afterburners, Microwarps, Capacitor Rechargers, and Capacitor Batteries are all straight buffs to the ship systems, not adjustments or trade offs.

The ideas themselves aren't terrible, depending on how the lore of the game treats the ship's drives. The fact that Afterburners and Microwarps work as they do by dumping cap into propulsion speaks well from a lore standpoint.

Depending on how well the modules work, I could easily see Ammarian ships using these, trading speed which sucks for them anyway for additional cap which they need for their stupidly long range 'short range' weapon system.

I haven't gotten around to reading the books, but perhaps they would be better as low slot modules. The main reason I was thinking it might be better to have the power relay as a midslot, is because there are no midslot modules enhancing speed, other than mwd/ab.

The capacitor flux coil option a) (-15% max speed, + 15% capacitor capacity) would be great for snipers, and mission runners, or maybe in combination with a microjump drive.
Option b) (+15% agility, -15% max speed) would be mostly useful for industrials and ships for moving through nullsec or quickly through highsec. Lower speed, higher agility/acceleration would make a ship align and warp faster, especially since it wouldn't have to speed up quite so high.
