This would most likely offer a big improvement for the motion sickness issues. I would also recommend decreasing the density of the "cloud" effect, as if there is less in the way of solid objects in motion for the eye to detect, it will contribute less to the motion sickness. I think this is one of the reasons why there is not the same amount of trouble with the warp effect; it's largely transparent, and so it does less to make it feel like you are actually moving.

I'm pretty sure that the "cloud density" is used to cover up the background transition. If you are jumping between two fairly close systems in the same region this is probably not a big deal, especially with the new nebulae and star field. Making it as transparent as the warp effect would kinda remove the point of it being there in the first place. (Don't know for sure though, I'm not CCP.)

Honestly, my only personal gripe with the new jump effect is the initial camera hijack. It doesn't make me vomit, but the loss of control makes me feel... bad. What?

This thread has now become an ego trip - I know more about computers than you.

under 10% TiDi this is bad.

id rather look at a black screen and a loading bar than that bloody cloud effect over and over and over and over and over for what seams like 5-10min

OMG when can i get a pic here

Since I do not know the inner workings of a computer system like many of the experts in this thread, take my "comments" with a grain of salt please.

A while back, there was a thread talking about solar systems and star gates. I remember CCP Explorer mentioning that it is the star gate that causes you to be transferred to another computer node. Thus a pilot could never fly far enough in a solar system to ever reach another system - the gate has the execution file to change nodes. So is the new traveling animation just that - an animation? I could not see CCP deciding to scrap the old code just to install an animated tunnel loading screen, but I could be wrong.

With the old loading screen, it did not matter how you approached the gate. Yet this new version locks you into falling down the tunnel by entering the back end of the star gate. Again, is this a new code or just an animation? Why does warping within a solar system allow a player the ability to face in any spherical direction but the node transfer is locked in one direction only?

The one time I flew down the star gate tunnel from a side view and watched the whole animation unfold from a side angle - was this a graphical glitch?

Or the time I was entering Minmatar space and instead of the grayish tunnel, the whole surrounding area was similar to the old black loading screen, except it was the rusty orange of their skies instead. No flashes of lightning, no swirling clouds, no abrupt stopping next to the next gate - another graphical glitch?

I wonder how long - if ever - before CCP offers an option to turn the animation off. Or allow a pilot to angle the camera in any direction while traveling down the tube. I can not see CCP scraping a perfectly working execution file just to make it appear more surreal; but I digress.

Personally, the black screen made me think that I was traveling SO fast that even light could not keep up.

And strangely enough, I loaded the next system faster then than I do now. *shrugs*

As indeed you are traveling between stars in mere seconds.

A more subtle and classy animation would be appreciated. But if it must be violent and noisy at least do not force the camera. More simulator, less action in this case.

Yep. And some people will let others shovel any sort of scheit down their throat and say "thank you." The latter sort make pretty good serfs.

+1 to be able to skip the jump animation.

If I cant do that, make my camera reset to the way it way before I jumped.

While you're fixing that, let me save a camera default, which is applied every time I exit a station as well.

+1 for the option, bumping this trying to keep the hope alive!

Please get rid of the scanner popping up in every system. Its getting old, especially for those of us who don't care about exploration.

Personally, I think the new animation is great! (a bit buggy though)

If you don't like it, just close your eyes while its playing, problem solved...

A few people said this earlier in the thread, so you must be trolling...

Still hoping for a fix!

EDIT - Why not give us an option for a generic fade-to-black transition?

Personally i think the new animation is crap, and buggy too.

As per Headache´s Law, any other opinion is not of any interest, thus you don´t need to post here.

tl,dr: lol

Good for you, then when the option to switch it off comes - you can leave it on!

All the others that doesnt like that animation for various reasons, can opt to switch it off.

Bump for BLACK-SCREEN

The animation might be thought to be "good eyecandy" but i get a headache from it when jumping 20+ times.

Seriously we need an turn off option.

Could we get an update ccp - how is it going and what have you intend to do? I totally gone back to only skill training and I'm not going to just make this for much longer. No anger and no bad feelings just want to know what I should do, stay or cancel and maybe come back when and if ccp have made a satisfactory (for me!) Solution. Best solution for me would be an option to turn off the animation. Instead you can for my sake insert a blank animation such as black screen.

I get upset every time I jump through a Gallente gate when you get thrown through a piece of the gate as it doesn't have a continuous aperture to travel through. The continual realignment of the view is also vexing.
