What's the future of WiS?

In the last months CCP gave us a lot of confusing info about the future of WiS.
I think that the players (also just-FiS supporters) deserve at least to know exactly what's going on.

I'm sure there is other, more detailed info but the short version is that it's on the back-burner while they focus on the core-game. Don't expect anything for a while (ie, a year+).

They will now only release what was already finished or mostly finished slowly over time and only invest minor resources in going further down the development path they already had planned with full resources.

I doubt it'll get offlined completely.

Funny how easy is to manipulate the players; just few FiS stuffs that was probably already in devolepment, a letter from the CEO, and everybody stop complainin about the lack of communication/content.

Confirmed troll thread.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

I think we're getting a Christmas tree in our CQs for (you guessed it) Christmas. That's the near future. We may be getting one every year, if you wanted something more long term...

a) they weren't working on it back then and b) what's that got to do with anything, anyway? they could have been working on this since the victorian age and that wouldn't make any difference to them deciding to focus on FiS?

Yeah damn those guys for communicating more and giving players what they have been asking for.

There's a significant part of players asking for related-WiS content/info, communicating more doesn't mean communicating enough.

There really aren't very many but if you honestly think there's a huge number of people out there who are desperate for Dolly Dressup and the microtransaction super store then get all of them together and cancel your accounts. If enough of you do this it will do a lot more to convince CCP than posting endless threads about it. I suspect that the number of cancellations will comfortably fit in the usual monthly churn rate.

WiS was boxed up and put away in storage

It's been made fairly clear to me that WiS on a large scale (read: lage enough scale that its supporters would approve of) just isn't possible with today's hardware and their models.

That tells me one thing: it's a long, long time away.

If anyone ever looks at you and says,_ "Hold my beer, watch this,"_  you're probably going to want to pay attention.

Consulting my magic 8 ball, the answer appears to be "Don't know, don't care."

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Barbiephobic huh?
Did i talk about people disperate about WiS and "micro"transaction?
Well, if you think that, to get an answer about WiS future, players need to cancel their accounts, you must agree with me that there is still lack of communication.

Communication good. WiS bad. That is all.

The last official word is that WiS is "on ice indefinitely". We were told this is because CCP has determined that the players don't want it and CCP couldn't see how to make it compelling. Both of these statements are easily refuted.

I expect what really happened is it became clear CCP's bet on the Carbon engine for WoD proved impossible to deploy for scaling reasons. That is what killed WoD and as collateral damage WiS.

A strong case for that being the real reason is at no time did we ever see a multiple character in a room at once implemetation on the test server or even a video of something like that wih lots of charcters at once and I believe that same is true for WoD.

Personally I'd would like to see CCP put a small team on WiS V 2.0 based on the engine they are using for Dust. At least we know that scales and is deployable commercially.

If you looked forward to WiS and still want it worked on please post your support in the "Some of us Still Want WiS" thread.
