god, evil microsoft, most small publishers do not make money and they wanted to support them, even EA had quarters of negative profit, how many people are renting games anyway? all scream about nothing, yea you can not sell the game, thats an issue however you can not sell your itunes music either, so stop whining everybody

You seem to be the only one whining. We were holding a great discussion. Have a nice day.

They better hurry up porting dust to ps4. Also last I heard is that free to play titles don't require PS plus to play online, means no monthly fee.

Yeah, saw that, with the PS4 you don't have to have the PS plus service to play F2P MMO's or things like netflix which have their own subscriptions.
After E3 and watching totalhalibut and Angryjoe, i think the arguments in favour of even buying an Xbox Done are as close to zero as its possible to get, and yeah, the PS4 is also $100 cheaper, and thats without even subsidising the cost of the console, unlike with the PS3 where Sony was losing money with every sale. At the advertised price point, Sony actually makes a bit of profit on them, even if it isnt very much. Shocked

I don't like it but i can see what they are trying to do (emulate steam). Many of the complains will be forgotten quickly when players can buy heaps of AAA games for dirt cheap during sales. Problem is Microsoft is **** poor at communicating their goals.

-AAA- have games? They should rename themselves to AADRM.

No intention. Not a big console player. Just saying ther's a bit of hyperbole going on and spreading of wrong rumors like for instance not being able to turn off Kinect cam and mic.

When Steam was new people had similar reservations (having to be online, no resale of games etc.) but nowadays it's extremely popular and ppl don't mind not being able to trade games on it. Curbing the second hand market is what allows Valve to have all these low priced weekly, easter and christmas sales. Players love them and Publishers and Developers love them aswell because it means multiple waves of sells not just one initial one. As far as i can tell Microsoft is trying to establish the same business model for consoles. Games on PS4's oldschool selling model will be more expensive on average

I would like to thank CCP for not going with microsoft on this one. If they had gone with 360 we may have been pulled into the gaping maw that is microsoft and we would be broke. And If the DUST system, as it is, was later on XBOX ONE we would be in a world of hurt. Playstation thank you for setting the standard for appropriate gaming etiquette. CCP keep working with them and making DUST a success.

Microsoft theres a war dec comming for you.

Eh, the reasons why CCP never went with Xbox are obvious.

1. Microsoft does not allow "free" content expansions. They must cost microsoft points. Even Valve did not have any luck in being able to do free expansions for their own games.
2. Microsoft really does not want any crossplatform play. The entire DUST-EVE link is a big no-no. Valve had the same issue when it wanted to integrate Xbox players like they did PS3.

There would be no "second hand" market regardless if Steam existed or not. Most of the DRM on PC games limits your activations greatly per CD key. Buying a used game would be a chicken shoot if the previous owner used up all the activations.

All Valve does is provide a market place for cheaper games as they cut out the middleman of stores.

…and anyway, the bigger problem with the XBone is that runs a fair risk of being banned in the entire EU since it restricts free trade and movement within the inner market. Twisted

Well, with the Xbox, it is certainly no longer only Ceiling Cat that watches your "improper behavior at home".
On the positive side, in this case Microsoft can remotely send you some medical aid when your Xbox detects irregularities in your heart beat. Think about the children!

I've seen it posted by certain people, that all this DRM, always online, can't resell, etc. doesn't affect them, so why should they care? Roll

IGN accepts bribes to rate games 10/10, so I don't see how certain hardware manufacturers couldn't do the same.

...

I had some fun with the Dreamcast, the first Xbox and the 360 (and I'll use them at a certain point if I want to play some games I already have), but it's back to the PC for me. New rig with a GTX770 incoming. Bear

So microsoft's dream is to operate like fascists roku/hulu.
The playing stops when the paying stops,no owning bought games and play them offline if you feel like it.
That includes the DLC's bought as expensive as brand new games.
The equipment(xbox) to play games turns into a expensive brick when the paying also stops.

I'm starting to see a pattern. No pay,no play... Period. -M$

Sure, you buy a proprietary appliance (XBox) for $500, you stop paying the license to use it. It becomes all but useless since most of the power and features you spent the money to purchase in the box is tide to licensing. No licensing, no features. And it's not like, without some hackery skills and law breaking you can re-task it to do anything else but be a vacuum cleaner for your wallet.

With DRM built into the box itself you'll be hard pressed to find a law that protects your right to modify a box you bought. You can't tamper with DRM in the US. Why did you even want to purchase a box that's relaying the contents of your last bowel movement anyway?

Don't ban me, bro!

I have absolutely no intention of buing a next gen console at this rate so it certainly does not affect me. Up til this point I heralded xbox 360 as a superior product to ps3 with the exception of the bluray player, but xbone makes me do a complete 540 degree turn out of this. And I dont see a reason to buy a ps4 either really.

Seriously, I dont see a reason why this generation is not going to fail HARD.
