What's a Brutix good for?

I love the look of this ship, and there's alot of different things I like doing in this game and I'm still trying to figure what stuff to do.
I have a fully fit railgun brutix good to go, but I'm wondering what a Brutix is mainly used for?

edit: Also, unrelated, but is there anyway to speed up a brutix without activating anything? like without a microwarpdrive or an afterburner?

Well I cant help on the ship fitting front, but I do believe the Navigation skill will give a bonus to your speed.

I may be wrong however.

try it in the blaster shield version and then go attack the first ship you can lock.

Are there any rigs or implants that would help?

Auxiliary Thrusthers and Polycarbon rigs increase your speed, and Zor's Custom Navigation Hyper Link and the Snake set are implants that increase speed. An afterburner or microwarpdrive is the best way to speed your ship up though.

Brutix is used primarily as a blaster boat for pvp, either shield tanked or active armor tanked. It can do okay at PvE too though it's not the best in that regard.

What're you looking to use your Brutix for? We can help you with a fit if you need it.

The Brutix is primarily used as DPS/gank boat... word is still out on whether or not it's just as effective as a tanker as the Myrmidon.

Also...

- do you want to use it primarily for missions or for PvP? The fits differ radically.

- why do you want to avoid using an AB or MWD? Both are pretty much staples of combat in general.

As a short range in your face gun faesmelt DPS boat its really PVP oriented. Medium rails are just too ****, people do run PVE in Brutixes but that is suboptimal choice. Gallente BC of PVE choice is the Myrmidon.

For speed, check all the available skills in "Navigation" category and start learning.

I haven't got mine out since the last two rebalance passes (mainly because I have no idea where I left it).

But yeah, the old dual repper electron build was a nasty **** in the right situation.

Nothing specifically. I liked the look of the Brutix, and it's bonuses seemed good, so I went with it hoping to do exploring. I really want to do PvP mainly, but I don't have enough money to fund my Brutix for PvP. For PvE fitting, I think I have it covered from a different thread I made, but if you want to check it out here it is:

6x 250mm Railgun I, Antimatter Charge M

2x Cap Recharger I
10mn Afterburner I
Tracking Computer I, Optimal Range Script

2x MAgnetic Field Stabalizer
1x Medium Armor Repairer I
1x Armor Explosive Hardener I
1x Armor Kinetic Hardener I
1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane

5x Hobgoblin I
5x Salvage Drone I

Obviously I'm going to be training skills to upgrade all the above to tech 2, but atm I haven't.

Well the thing is is that I really want to PvP, but I don't have the funding to be able to replace my Brutix if it dies, which is why I only fly in high sec. I'm trying to get enough money to replace it 5x over before I actually use it for PvP. Which is why I have it fit for missions atm.

I actually use an AB atm, but I don't have enough room to equip a MWD, but I still feel slow.

He's talking about ganking mining barges.

Really thought the Brutix is a pretty crappy PvE boat, the Myrm does everything better with more versatility due to drones. I did the same thing (really I bought a Brutix on a drunken impulse buy) but got over that quickly as soon as I could afford a myrm.

Virtually every Brutix I've ever seen was bait. This never seems to stop the FC from taking the bait....

Don't start PvPing with a Brutix. Buy a few dozen T1 frigs first, and lose them all. Hopefully after that you will know a lot more about PvP, so find friends and fly big ships along side their big ships.

It's good for melting your face at point blank range before you can even lock, that's what it's good at.

fit up a bunch of meta 0 frigates and go die in a fire with them. You'll learn loads about pvp doin that. Upgrade fits as you make more isk. I love a 20mil t2 fit thrasher as much as the next guy but you can fit up ten 2 mil thrashers while only losing maybe 30% efficiency instead and get a lot more pew for your isk.

Go experimenting with cheap frigs. The cheaper the fits the better! You will be losing a lot of them while you expirement and learn. After a week of experimenting you'll find a ship/fit you enjoy more then the others. Take that and build on it. Make small changes to the fit maybe upgrading a mod a meta level to get better performance. The more comfortable you get flying the fit the more isk you put towards it. If you stick with it long enough you find yourself with all level 5 skills and looking at factiondeadspace mods or implants to increase your skills further (atleast this is the way it should happen).

Someone gave me very good advice a long time ago. If your looking at expensive stuff because its better put that isk towards plex to train those skills up. Once your skills are perfect go back to the expensive stuff Big smile

What does meta 0 mean?
What do you mean dying in a fire? Just going after people in lowsec?
Are thrashers better or rifters? I use rifters atm.
