I would have never asked this question before as, even with the bugs, the cluster stayed up.
Now, odyssey has brought back some old bugs and introduced new ones. I thought we had gotten past this point where we don't fully check things on singularity before even giving a date of release, or at least getting a patch ready before even releasing it. I say patch as most others here wouldn't know what I mean when I say a .diff file, pertaining to code. You wouldn't patch on the client if you discovered the bug before releasing odyssey; or, would you? Just patch the code with a .diff before they download, before releasing.

But yes, before the last perceived at roughly Ten downtimes, I would not have asked

Why did you run the network cables through plumbing as conduit, so that everytime someone flushes a toilet up stairs, the cluster goes down in your mom's basement?

In all seriousness, why don't you make checks for packet level filtering where only the language YOU invented is allowed through, to talk between the cluster and client. Make a checksum for your language that will always come out with a divisible md5 hash, or w/e algorithm. If they do get by standard tcp checks that you should have for ACK, SYN, FIN, RST, etc usage and abuse, they can never mimic the algorithm you have chosen.

It has to be an algorithm to check for UDP packets; I have never sniffed any packets from eve but now you have gotten me doing it.

If you want someone to help you with a true unix firewall, you have my info. As a side note, you can also use your own blend of vpn for the client where ONLY the client can initiate, using hard coded encryption key in the binary, and kill all other connections that don't start encryption within so many seconds after connection.

You would have to use compression, to allow dialup to keep connecting though.

Probably cause someone was ******* with something when they shouldn't have been. Someone in the networking department is getting reemed.

I bet CCP. HF's daughter tried to give the server milk again.

I have a cousin who tried to feed his families VCR toast when he was little.

i enjoy the people saying its the launchers fault, or ...just maybe...its because..THEY KEEP REBOOTING THE SERVER...like they said. they are working on t he log in..has nothing to do with the launcher. people are just getting lucky as its coming back up and going down to get as far as they do.

It's the goons fault... It's always their fault... Now where is the box where I keep my tinfoil hat.

On a serious note, servers were down for all of what 20min? Wow the QQing on this thread is epic.
