Broteau found guilty and executed by Sebiestor Tribe

Quote:
ERAM – Gerne Broteau has been executed after being declared guilty by the Sebiestor Tribal Court after a trial which continued without interruption for 36 hours. The tribal judges sentenced Broteau to death for his attack on a Minmatar cultural festival in the Gallente Federation which left 59 dead, including Sebiestor Tribal Chief Karin Midular.

Shortly after the verdict and sentence were delivered, Broteau was led from the court and executed by a firing-squad of hand-picked Sebiestor warriors from Karin Midular’s clan. Neither the Republic authorities or any other tribe chose to contest the sentence, a step that would have automatically elevated the matter to an appeals court.

The swiftness of the trial and particularly the execution is unusual inside the Republic, leading some commentators to criticize their actions. The Sebiestor Tribe has released a short statement saying, “Justice was served. No punishment can truly fit the crime committed; we dispensed the most fitting justice possible.”

And no surprise was to be had.

I suspect this won't be the end of it, but at least it's the end of Broteau. Now it's just empire-level politics.

For what it's worth, I approve of the punishment. Swift, efficient, no dragging out, no attention drawn. Now we can forget the little bastard.

Tssk. Is this what Sebiestor justice looks like? The trial was more of a punishment than the swift execution that followed.
I guess this is what the Federation feared would happen. Thank you for demonstrating its concerns were justified.

I hope it was worth the loss of life from the unwarranted invasion of Federation space. Not to mention was it really worth the souring of relations with the federation? Was it worth the future lack of support which will embolden the Amarr?

If the Federation would have shut up and given the executor of a Republican leader to the Republic, I could have read this quite some time ago, without the Elder fleet throwing it's self at the Federation. (Though, Republic, would you please just forsake them and sign on with the Caldari now that Heth is gone? You seem like you'd get on like a house on fire with them.)

Not sure how I feel about this in a big-picture sense.

But in terms of Broteau himself, I'm not exactly shedding tears over this, if you catch my drift.

I personally do not think the Caldari are going to be very interested in helping any so called ally that will invade your space while you are trying to handle a matter in the courts. Especially after what Heth did to his people.

Tribal Justice everyone. Guilty until proven innocent.

Don't get me wrong, Brotaeu got what he deserved, the Republic, as usual went about it in the wrong way.

So, are they going to send Broteau back to the Federation now?

I hear he has some life sentence he needs to sit out.

This wasn't justice. This was vengeance.

If Chribba told you not to trust him, would you?

This says more about the Republic than we realize. Following their initial invasion in Federation space, they've further undermined the Federation with his execution. He was sent there on the understanding that he would be returned. Perhaps they are more than happy to sever all ties.

I seem to smell the stench of appeasement in the air.

Now that Broteau has been properly dealt with as befits his crimes against Minmatar, I believe that there is now a debt to be settled. As promised, for the termination of his existence, a sum of one billion and one ISK is now owed.

Given that the sentence was both passed and carried out by the Sebiestor Tribe, I shall attempt to make contact with the relevant people so that they may use the funds as they feel appropriate.

They will find themselves with few allies. The Federation will be more than happy to sever ties to a rouge nation and enjoy the benefits of reduced strain with the Amarr while also enjoying their ability to work with the Caldari now that Heth is no longer screwing everything up.

If the Amarr press this advantage the Republic can count of folks like me and many others in Federation NOT offering even a single isk of support.

Given the...eagerness shown by the Republic to get hold of him I would have thought the execution to be a more brutal affair.

Except if he is realy not dead just put away. Or there is more to it then it seems. Wouldnt be suprised if behind the attack was a rogue faction of minmatar goverment.

Well, I must admit that shooting the guy does have a vaguely elegant form of symbolic symmetry to it.

Another gallentean died. What could be better?

Honored are the dead, for their legacy guides us.
