Not sure, but isn't scanning it just down faster than determining bands and cherrypicking afterwards?
Mean system-scan-times are already down to 1-3 minute depending on number of sigs.

If you are looking for an exit, and you happen to be in a system where the static was in its on special band, you can still knock down the number of potential sigs dramatically.

I've been in a system with over 30 sigs and with that one scan knock down the potential sigs to 1-5.

So, basically, CCP put a stopper in your isk faucet and your alt-army isn't quite a profitable as it used to be? You should probably know solo isk faucets aren't what CCP meant wormholes to be, with or without an army of alts.

The scanner window will show the correct distance to single probe and pre-loaded results.

Really. **** CCP. Put in sig strength then they take it away again.

They took our DSPs; they redeemed themselves by giving us distances. Now that's gone.

At least give us a USEFUL probe formation for checking bands. The spread formation is nice if it were not for having TWO probes in the center. Is there no dev that understands how wormholers live? We need the ability to quickly scan a system and knowing which signatures to scan; I can't imagine scanning down every single signature in a chain...

CCP doesn't want people to be able to know at a glance (aka old DSP behaviour) what sigs are worth scanning down. That much is clear from their intent.

I tend to think that being able to know at a glance what signatures are worth scanning down was broken. People talk about it like it was some feat of skill but really it was just insider undocumented knowledge. I'm sure when CCP conceived of scanning they didn't think "we'll let people bypass the whole process of discovering sites by letting them work out within 10 seconds of jumping in what is worth scanning down"

It's a perfectly legitimate desire to want to be able to quickly glance at a system's sigs and determine the most likely sigs one wants to probe out. There is absolutely no reason that players are required to probe out multiple sigs to determine undesirable results especially when the main mode of travel for wormholers is to "find" the route.

The fact that more experienced players or those in the know made the connection and want to utilize it doesn't diminish game play and mystery for the noobs. Call it what you will, undocumented feature, exploit, whatever. The fact is, the game should have more undocumented features, things that aren't obvious but are either intended to be there or unintended yet do not fundamentally sway game play in another's favor. Just because something is unintended doesn't mean it should be removed.

Without DSP's I used to be able to pick ladar-like sig strength with a spread of 6 probes (and correspondingly, likely wormholes), the radar-mags and statics. Same deal in k-space, if the sig was >28% on six 8AU probes it was a useless Dirty Site site or a Sansha Lookout, and you could ignore it and concentrate on the wormholes or radar-mags for teh moneys. Nullsec scanning was easier; in Perrigen I'd be swamped by high end drone plexes which all had retardo big sig strength and you just knew to ignore them all without OCDing it and faffing about with a DSP.

This is called...experience gained from hours or weeks or months spent probing (and, frustrated wife syndrome).

3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

7. Use of profanity is prohibited.

The use of profanity is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. This includes the partial masking of letters using numbers or alternate symbols, and any attempts at bypassing the profanity filter.

16. Redundant and re-posted threads will be locked.

All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.

30. Abuse of CCP employees and ISD volunteers is prohibited.

CCP operate a zero tolerance policy on abuse of CCP employees and ISD volunteers. This includes but is not limited to personal attacks, trolling, “outing” of CCP employee or ISD volunteer player identities, and the use of any former player identities when referring to the aforementioned parties.

Our forums are designed to be a place where players and developers can exchange ideas in a polite and friendly manner for the betterment of EVE Online. Players who attack or abuse employees of CCP, or ISD volunteers, will be permanently banned from the EVE Online forums across all their accounts with no recourse, and may also be subject to action against their game accounts.
