ROFL. Evaporite Deposits and Hydrocarbons are so worthless that I'm going to be able to entertain my entire corp by reading your post tonight. You will lose millions of isk a month if you mine them.

Any valuable moon is owned by a large alliance or an ally of a large alliance. If you get really, really lucky you might find a moon in low sec that makes a very modest profit once you take fuel into account and you might manage to hold on to it for a couple of months. But eventually someone like me will spot that a 1 man corp has a moon that can make money and we'll take it from you. There will be nothing you can do to prevent this.

Moon mining is not for small corps. It is for large corps and alliances.

I don't know about entertained all night... but I am certainly entertained. :)

Unless you want to just have an experience of moon mining for some reason and dont mind losing isk (And you will lose isk mining the garbage you scouted out).. I wouldn't bother...

In 2006 I played around with POSs and moon mining on account it didn't require a lot of skills... I got a lot of great fights and saw my first super but did't make isk.

By the way, Iron is a bit of a mental patient when it comes to taking POSs.. He is pretty damn good at it.

My two friends and I are looking into building a POS for moon mining. I have heard that it can be quite profitable.

You are going to spend a lot of time fighting with the horrors that are POS and lose ships, isk and patience. Find something else to do.

That's a grim outlook. Would you recommend any alternatives?

build up a low-sec reaction farm

for your Mining Idea:
there is like no chance of finding a valuable moon (by valuable I mean it gains more than it costs), and the chance that you gona old it with two friends is even lower. Oh yea and gases don`t evne pay the fuel for a small tower, so not worth it.
