OP, Perhaps you don’t know the cost involved in building the T2 variants so here is a simple list for a CCC rig.

T1
Melted Capacitor Console ...qty 23 - 9k isk
Burned Logic Circuit........... qty 86 - 48k isk
Tripped Power Circuit......... qty 75 - 150k isk
.....................................................15.5 mil
T2
R.A.M – Energy tech .....qty 1 - 57k isk
Logic Circuit ................qty 17 - 295k isk
Power Circuit ................qty 15 - 4mil isk
Capacitor Console ..........qty 5 - 11 mil isk
................................................120 mil

None of these cost are set by CCP, they are all market derived by supply and demand, the most important thing to note is that the salvage from missions and ratting are the only components that go into these (No mining involved) so if the cost are to high it is probably because the mission/ratters are not salvaging the components thus creating a supply problem and at the same time creating a demand problem.

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

Inaccurate, CCP does indeed set the cost of Rigs by game mechanics % drop chance of this or that Salvage component. T2 salvage amount was reduced a while back during the kinda nerf to Magno sites. The majority of T2 Large Rigs were around 50-80 mil for YEARS from at least ~2006-2009. I was shocked when I came back to Eve this Feb after a couple year hiatus to find certain (but not all) T2 Rigs at costs of ~280 mil. This is certainly due to a sharp increase in Cap ships over the years since so many players can fly them now but that isn't the sole reason.

However, cost is still irrelevant because if you want a better ship, you will find a way to make the ISK to Rig it with T2.

The Operative: "There are a lot of innocent people being killed in the air right now".

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "You have no idea how true that is".

I don't see the problem with large T2 rigs price. Unless you are fliying a cap, the extra % in armor given by a trimark T2 VS trimark T1 will most likely not save your ass. If you can afford 750m in rigs for a T1 hull...go ahead. If you are flying a bhaalgorn with T1 rigs, yes, you are doing it bad =(

I only ever fit T2 large rigs on pirate battleships.

T3's for specific uses personally and only, otherwise T1 rigs are good enough and cheapo +3 implants are cheaper, add a combat booster and that's it you have the bang for the buck.
When it has to blow up it will blow up, rather have 2 pirate ships T1 rigged than 1pirate ship T2 rigged, but it's a personal choice.

Players can also fit a salvager on their ship, get T2 salvage components with exploration, buy cheaper T2 rig BPC's and build themselves, it's not free, it will just cost isk to the guys not selling theirs at 100% benefit.

The price drop may have something to do with new exploration, since they seem to be dropping 0/0 ML/PL blueprint copies and that lowers the need for materials.

T2 rigs are fine as is. Just like everything in Eve if you want something "maxed" it's going to cost you. It's called diminishing returns.

its summer time, the US younger players are on vacation. Lots of free time and not as greedy as the adults are lol.

Summer is usually a good time to find some deals here and there. When fall hits you get the back to school market change and back to the adutls trying to squeeze out every isk they can.
