Pretty much all caldari ships are good bar the hacs/recons. Best ships for solo pvp is by far a 100mn tengu.

The Drake is probably better for true solo, just because you evoke less of a response from the natives.

I've seen a handful of RML Caracals floating around. Their rainbow bonus and applied DPS gives you a pretty wide engagement range, and you've got plenty of options for mids.

Ham Drakes are awesome, Merlins are awesome, Blarpys are awesome, in fact Calamari have very decent pvp ships now, always tanky and enough dps to do the job.

Having a hard time choosing ship and fittings for pvp since I have not played for 3 years.
...I would recommend a Minmatar ship.

Then your not very bright.

Caldari are in a pretty good place right now, the Kestrel, Condor and Merlin are all very strong, the Blarpy and Hawk as well.

HAM and HML Drakes are still popular and effective, the Caracal and Moa as well.

The T2 lineup is where Caldari ships start to loose out, the Cerb and Eagle are worst in class, however the T2 balance is yet to come along so we see what that has to bring, the Falcon and Rook are, well, ECM boats. The Onyx is a HIC, it bubbles things so its fine.

The Basilisk is the only stand out of the T2 Caldari, its amazing, amazing rep power and Cap, definitely worth training for.

Then of course the Tengu, which is amazing.

RML Caracal is awesome, decent dps/ speed/ tank. If you're going to fight in 0.0 I suggest you fit ECCM, cause no matter if you're going to fight outnumbered most of the times, the other guys want to be 100% certain that no harm is done to them and they will bring Falcons if possible.

merlin, kestre, moa, caracal, ferox and drake are all good choice for solo pvp just pick youf fighting style missile or guns, ASB or buffer and find some good fits.
my favourites are the blaster boats with an ASB

Once you have made your first steps into Caldari PVP you should definatelly also try out the Caldari Navy Hookbill. 5 Medium slots give you a lot of space for e-war, tank, dual-prop... whatever you prefer most. Be creative, the Hookbill is one of the most flexible ships and you will easily find a new, useful and suprising setup.

Most important for successful PVP is (especially if you go solo):
a) You need to know exactly what your ship is capable for and what not. (Brawler, Kiter, etc.)
b) You need to know what enemy ships are enemies which allow you to use your strengths and which not. Engage solo only thise which are matching your capabilities.
c) Learn to smell the blob.
d) Luck, don't forget to pray befor you go Big smile

You can step up the hookbill with the Hawk for only 10 mill more. That loss of mid slot is compensated by additional resists and bonuses.

i used to really like the osprey and cormorant but they changed them a while ago. they also kind of messed up my smartbombing scorpion... the better ships are too scary for a lot of people to fight you. condor used to be good but now a lot of people wont fight it. i dont blame them in many cases. a loki linked snaked damp condor is very annoying. maybe i would say the kestrel. its still often underestimated

The Hookbill and Hawk both have 5 midslots, Hookbill is cheaper and signifcantly faster though, but the Hawk has an insane tank and good projection.

MSE + MASB works better in practice, even with crystals and a Tengu.

Nope, not really. A mse gives about 5k ehp extra to said hawk (with tengu/crystal/bluepill), a masb tanks 1042dps (per booster) for about 15 seconds, so it gives more pure ehp and if you can stretch the charges you will most likely get a reload off.

Awww how cute, you're talking about a 1000 DPS tank on a hawk. The problem is that it doesn't have the EHP to support a tank that size. That's why the MSE is so important.

Im talking about a 1k burst tank, i.e a 300-500 dps tank in reality, the hawk has more then enough ehp to make due with that.

I don't see how a Condor can be considered a good ship for solo PVP. It's damage output is weak, and it's strengths lie in tackling as opposed to ganking. ASBlaster Merlin is my favourite, though.

You dont need good dps for solo pvp, orbit at 19km with dual tds and 90dps is more then enough.
