I made a minor update today, the AAR should now work as advertised. Please try it and report any issues.

Gotta say, this is a great tool if you don't want to download anything.

One little request: Make it to where you can have a drop-down for "Select Enemy Damage Type" and it change your passive/active tanking ability with the selection (With the current "Omni" being selected by default of course!). I think if that were added, it'd be perfect for its niche role.

The 1000th loadout barrier has been broken a few days ago. Thanks everyone for using Osmium!

One nice feature would be some sort of filter-by-Eve-version, so that it's easy to tell (for example) pre-Odyssey fits from post-Odyssey fits. Simple filter by date would be possible but not perfect. Maybe something with tags.

(A longer-term goal could be to allow multiple fitting profiles for ships based on the Eve version selected. That way, if future announced changes are added in, people could theorycraft fits for the upcoming version without borking the current fits.)

How and where are the charecter API's stored, and would there be any chance of misuse of them?

I only ask because we are playing EvE.

Thanks for suggesting that, I have been thinking about how to tackle this issue.

Unfortunately with the current architecture it's impossible to use more than one version of the EVE database, so I always use the same version as the current version on Tranquility. What I could do is run a parallel Osmium instance with a different database (for example with a Singularity database or whatever the testing server's name is), but it would be completely disconnected from the main Osmium instance, and due to the volatile nature of test servers, it would probably be updated (possibly reset if CCP decides to roll back lots of stuff) regularly.

What I could do is automatically (based on creation date) add a tag with the expansion name, like "retribution-12" or "odyssey-10", which would allow anyone to easily filter loadouts or see which loadouts are still relevant or not. I could also automatically add such tag to new fits (so, all fits created from now would have the tag "odyssey-10" too). What is your opinion on this?

Your API keys are stored in a PostgreSQL database. Since Osmium is free software, you can see how your key is used and how it is stored (the schema is here).

I use it for authentication, that is, allowing you to use your character name in Osmium (and the % in front of your name will be there to indicate your account is API verified, and you are not usurping someone else's character).

I also use it to detect cheating on votes (for example, you could create 3 characters on your EVE account, with 3 Osmium accounts, and you could vote 3 times on things, giving you an unfair advantage), for this I use the creation date of your account (which is far from perfect, but at least there are no false negatives).

If you have more questions please let me know.

Osmium 0.7.0 is out. Despite the major version change, there are no new big features (although there were big internal changes).

Here is what's new:
  • It is now possible to search loadouts by ship type (try searching for "battlecruiser" or "interceptor").
  • You can switch between a light and a dark theme (click the "Paint it black/white" link in the bottom-right corner of the page).
  • Unborked the notifications page (sorry it took so long…).

As usual, the full changelog is here.

If you see any issues or have any questions, I'll be glad to see to them.

That's more or less what I had in mind. Whether or not you do it retroactively is up to you, but at least going forward it would be nice to have a version tag added to new fits by default.

Having an issue at the moment. When adding a hi slot item, it seems to try first to put it into the mid slots, then copy it to the top hi slot, overwriting what's already there even if there are other empty slots. Also vice versa (adding mid slots, will try to put it into a hi slot, then move it to top mid). Low slots appear to be working fine.

Interesting, I can't reproduce the issue here sadly. Is it only on a specific loadout (or with certain modules) or is it all the time? Have you tried the usual cache clearing routine or tried in another browser?

Tried a few new loadouts with different hulls... all the same issue. Although, one correction... if I double-click a hi slot module while there's a different hi slot module in the top hi slot, the new module will blip through the mid slots like described, then just disappear (not overwrite the previous top-hi-slot module). If I click and drag the module to an empty slot, then it overwrites the module in the top slot.

Only other browser I have on this machine is IE8 (work computer, so I can't get too fancy with it). I'll try from home tonight if I remember.

I stumbled upon the issue today. It's definitely a bug, I am trying to fix it.

EDIT: fixed it, it was a dummy typo in a view. Phew.

Another feature suggestion, unless I'm missing it: a way to make a duplicate of a fitting you're looking at so you can modify it to your own specifications. I'm sure export/import could be used, but it may be something that happens often enough to justify a one-click method.
