I must second the idea of CCP putting more focus on the game than events.

With all due respect. Seriously. I am not someone who has the time, money or interest in flying someplace to watch a keynote on eve. That is what all of us bought big screen monitors for. To play eve on and we want the experience to be enjoyable every time we log in.

Thanks.

Last time I checked, CCP has put about 10 years of focus into Eve so far, and dont have plans to stop.

Soo....yeah.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Some of the things that CCP does seems a bit strange in regard to their events. I just don't relate to it. I just like the game alone.

Ummm... then don't go to the events?

Seems a simple solution.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

I was thinking the same thing...
If you dont like the idea of fanfest (or whatever) ignore it amd carry on...

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

So...just because YOU think a gaming company holding an event that is all about their game and getting to know their players and putting a HUGE amount of effort into that...is weird...you want them to stop doing it?...

yup, EVE is just about you, I totally agree...Roll

Just for reference:

Fanfest rocks. You get to meet a bunch of interesting people in other corps and try to kill them with alcohol poisoning. Lol

And it's nice to be able to talk to the devs in person, to get a handle on what they're thinking, and let them know what you think.

Please correct me if I'm wrong I really hope I am.... My impression is that Fanfest is really nothing more than a big drunk with very little of substance. I don't need to fly 5000 miles to get drunk...
Oh sure they have vids and keynotes, etc... all run by/with and attended by drunks...people who think they had more fun then they really did...

What's wrong with people enjoying getting drunk with friends from all over the world?

If all you focus on is the negative, then yes, you'll have a terrible time. It will be an expensive trip to a cold island in the North Atlantic with lots of drunk people having fun without you because you're against people getting drunk.

But again, if its not your thing, don't drink. Enjoy the rest of the round tables and presentations that don't make it onto youtube. Participate in the events. See the new technology demonstrations.

Start with actually browsing the fanfest website, download the schedule of events, and THEN decide if there's enough content of substance for you.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Events add flavour to the game, whether they are in a real place somewhere or an ingame event. If you don't like them don't go anywhere near them but to say CCP shouldn't do them is stupid.

When you post a thought, and no one else has posted it, it is not "seconding" an idea. Don't get ahead of ourselves. Second breakfast doesn't come until after first breakfast.

And, as I didn't bother searching, if there is such a thread that is "first," it is better to post to that thread instead of starting a new one. You are not special (though maybe a snowflake). Or at least link to the damn thing.

I dont like the idea that car manufacturers have car shows and such.

They should focus on producing and enhancing cars. Thats it.

In fact I hate the idea so much Im going outside and will burn my car to the ground. Because its the only sensible idea.

Fanfest is also about marketing. Same goes for most conventions, like E3.
