Is there anything that can be done to improve the uptime of rush service availability?

I'm a busy guy, I love the idea of outsourcing my industrial setup's hauling, and I'm happy to pay for it. However, so far I'm one for four in getting replies to rush order requests in your channel, and the one reply I did get was someone checking in half an hour later asking if I was still looking.

There's clearly the potential for something here. EVE has an awful lot of industrialists hauling stuff around that would happily pay for someone else to do it. The problem is that if rush order service uptime is viewed as a recreational, "best-effort" endeavor instead of a serious commitment, then I as an industrialist need to be ready (in terms of toons, ships, and spare time) to haul my own stuff, and if I'm maintaining those resources I may as well haul myself.

There's a huge market for reliable, fast (less than an hour), high-collateral, high-volume hisec hauling, but if industrialists can't trust the service to be available it's not going to succeed.

On a completely different topic, how do you guys safely haul >2B? I thought freighters were (roughly) profitable to suicide gank past that point. If you're doing custom contracts then the bad guys know where to set up a gatecamp.

I am not sure you've seen our procedure on rush jobs.
When you go to Blue Frog page and select "Rush" option there, you'll see following information:

Rush contracts

Calculate the reward (displayed below)
Join the channel RF Freight and ask if a pilot is available for a rush contract
If so, will be asked to issue the contract to that pilot directly, not to Blue Frog Freight

Please note, it takes time to locate a pilot who is available to haul a rush contract and your patience at the outset is appreciated. For more information, read FAQ question Q8.

This means you should use Blue Frog calculator to calculate rush reward and then come to "RF Freight" to ask for pilot's availability.
Also - bear in mind this is additional service we provide and only, if we have pilots available to pick it up.
There is no guarantee on availability of the pilots for rush jobs, especially for higher collateral jobs.

It's also impossible to provide any form of "standby pilots" for rush jobs only, as these jobs may start anywhere in New Eden and it takes half an hour to take dozen jumps route in a freighter...
Logistics wise, this would simply be a nightmare and wasting freighter's pilot resources and time.

As for the other question - we have our own techniques and use out of corp pilots :)

when I started that service, we had around 50 active pilots. we have now over 200, and we recruit new ones every weeks.

but to have a 100% availability, the price would have to be so high, no one would want to pay it!

the thing is, in red frog, most of our pilot are on auto-pilot and when you're on auto-pilot, you are not looking at the screen.

the last thing we want is to promise a 100% availability and have customer start complaining that we don't.

Great, fast, and reliable. Moved a massive order in a few short hours, something that would of taken be several days to do if done with my current method.
