Help with Punisher fit

I'm extremely new to PvP, been spending most of my time popping rats here and there, so I wasn't very surprised when my first PvP fight ended in a few seconds.

What surprised me was the fact that I was doing absolutely nothing to the other pilots Incursus. I've fitted 3 Dual Light Pulse Laser II's with Scorch S's.

Is there something I'm not aware of that is keeping my damage so low?

DLP's with scorch have bad tracking for a short range weapon.

If the incursus was blaster fit he will have much greater tracking than you and will put out way more damage.

In that particular fight you want to keep the incursus at range for as long as possible then when he gets within 4km swap to Navy multifreq as this has the best tracking. Do NOT orbit if you want to apply damage however the incursus will most likely be faster, hit harder and rep better than the punisher but the fight can be win-able.

given the punisher only has 2 medium slots I often don't fit a scram and go for a web instead. My prefered punisher fit can put out 190 dps with conflag and reps nicely while still having some measure of range control with AB/web combo and has suprised a few people on how much damage it can do. Can't hold anyone down though Shocked

Scorch does low damage to compensate for range. Fortunately, switching crystals in lasers is instant, so as soon as he closes range, you can swap to imperial navy multifrequency (which will do substantially more damage and not have a tracking penalty).

The Punishers 2 mid slots really hurt it for solo work as it puts you in a situation where every other frig has range control over you, and can abuse it by either getting under your guns tracking since lasers have the worst tracking, or keep you at MWD range and kite you, or keep you at the edge of scram (and use a TD to nullify your guns), and finally, if all goes badly they can just disengage you at will.

Overall the Tormentor will be far better for solo work just because of 3 mids, and it's also not a bad frigate at all, the Punisher can be used in frig gangs where the dps and tank is useful, but generally it's quite a poor frigate.

Yep, Tormentor is better for this. It also has a drone bay and a nice capacitor...hint hint. The Puni is a brick. Plated up it can have upward of 13k ehp iirc. It is best used in a gang/fleet.

As said 2 mids = can't control range and fit full tackle, don't do it for solo work. Frigates with 3 mids will have an easy time killing or escaping you.
