The new sites are excellent. Here are my reasons:

* Hacking game gives a chance to fail / is fun in its own right

* the Loot can system makes sense when used with a scanner and some knowledge of how items drop.

* Attention drawn to the mini-game draws attention from local / D-Scan, meaning more risk for the rewards that can be had.

* ...which are definitely better than before if you know how to play the drops.

* Don't need multiple characters or a Tech 3 to complete a site - Just a Cov Ops will do.

All round an excellent edition - both from the point of view of a Hacker and a PVPer. I look forward to seeing the hacking game expanded and other, similar tweaks and additions. 0.0 is a great place to be atm!

The new sites are crap. Here is the reason:

* Everybody can do the new sites without skill nor skills.

In this thread, we pretend that watching a module cycle a few times constitutes skill.

To be fair, he didn't say the old system involved skill, just that the new system doesn't.

I was sceptical of the new minigame at first, but I'm actually pleased now that I've tried it.

It's not the mini game, it is a dumb phone app, but harmless, it is the loot spew and the imaginary tractor beam.

They took away all the NPCs, they could have at least required a real tractor beam.

Oh course that would have really made people realize how lame the loot part is.

Credit where it's due, it's fun. I haven't changed old habits much. I still spend more time hunting down A6 wormholes and often simply add the rest to ignore but I've done a few. Setting aside my frustration with R&D in general and how it's tied to this, the new mini games are solid. If people are doing them, that's the point.

Still pissed about the commander tags omitted from tags for sec but the sucker in me still holds out hope you make them useful one day.

In highsec.

In any other part of space, this isn't even close to true.

The new sites in highsec have crap loot, yes, but that's because of their insane accessibility. They must have crap loot, because if they didn't the economy would be wrecked as a result.

If this bothers you, get your butt into lowsec and get the real loot.

The new data and relic sites don't have crap loot, which is why decryptors and MJD blueprints are now crap loot (six times greater supply than previously available).

The loot spew relies on adding two new game mechanics: first the new can type and second the magical tractor beam which works on loot spew cans but nothing else. Altering the mechanism to use existing mechanics would mean jetcans with a reduced lifetime, allowing the containers to be locked, and requiring use of an actual tractor beam to capture the container.

lol, Oh My Gawd

I sense Brown Nose Level 5 trained up.

The new mechanic is nothing more than a gankers wet dream come true. It's an actual slap in the face to all veteran explorers. Of course very little chance of getting ganked if you're in the middle of the Big Blue Null Sec Donut.

This is what bothers me, all ships underwent a universal refit. The new system scanner was somehow fit to every vessel in the EvE universe, free of charge. What does this have to do with EvE, all and free?

Same with the jackass tractor beam. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Mark my words R&D gets the ez mode next. And my guess is it will have a minigame.

seriously? You're PISSED that (T1) Industry, something that hasn't REALLY changed a whole lot in a good long while, is going to get worked on? I say it's about damn time.

Granted, T2 has had a bit more love, but ffs Industry needs love too.

I don't want the kind of "love" that T1 & T2 industry are going to get. No more passive gameplay: we can look forward to more interactivity to get industry jobs working. Perhaps a game of "towers of Hanoi" or "Sokuban" in order to pack your assembly line? Solve a Sudoku to determine the success of your invention job?

What next, CCP Soundwave? You already have R&D agents in your sights, since moving datacores to LP stores for combat pilots makes sense in your world while converting Research Agent interaction to PI-style "research projects" wasn't going to make the grade.

Yes, I mad.

I approve of all these solutions.

Also, the new explorations are a massive improvement in every way over the old one, so good times ahead! Big smile

I'm a big fan of being able to run them in covops as I wouldn't bother training a HAC or T3 for this otherwise.

Everything except loot spew is awesome.

The "phone app" is even well done, I like how they tied it into skill and fit.

I don't really think puzzles should be a part of EVE, but they did a good job.

The loot spew is not even implemented right, it should require a tractor beam, or opening containers.

Imaginary tractor beam is lame

I understand the purpose of the loot spew...but I don't like it at all.

My hope is there will be a lot of iteration on this profession...since they dedicated an entire expansion to "exploration" they had better keep adding features because if this is all we get for "exploration" it seems a bit short of the goalpost.
