Do we really need a font change ?

Hello

I've been on Sisi and i just read some thoughts about the new font currently on sisi.
At the current state, it doesn't look very beautiful.
So, my question is:

Do we really need the font change ?
You know how the font looks on Tranquility, not many know how it looks on singularity.

It's definitely needed. Hopefully it's not too hard to use, and it's just a matter of getting used to something new.

What we really needed was a scalable UI and a little dot in the zeros.

Hate the new font. Not going to like my 20% wider overview, chat, fleet, drone tabs because some people have issues with choosing a resolution they can read.

Most certainly we need a font change. You might dislike how the new font looks, but it is actually easier to read then the font we now have on TQ.

Though they need to give links their gold color again, but I doubt that's all that hard.

OP: Load up tranquillity. Open an ingame channel and type in the following:

DD OO
88 BB
00 OO
SS 55

Upon doing so I hope you realise why lots and lots of Eve players want a new font.

YES! And please let me make armor/shield bars and overview text BIGGER! My optometrist will appreciate it.

P.S. If anyone knows how to do this on TQ now please let me know. Bad eyes + age + tiny font/bars = Squinty EVE Nerd :(

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

I think the new font looks terrible but if it is easier on the eyes of our older players i can live with it.

Tbh we should have the ability to choose between fonts. Many people like the new font and it is better for them, yet for me it just strains my eyes.

I dont like new font, and dont have any prob with font on TQ.

But lots of people do, and they want this change so meh, can get over it.

So they pay a special font guy to create this, and then say that they'll be developing a scalable UI because people complain about the new font bring too big.

Should've just been a plan for a scalable / customizable UI from day one.

Something like what WoW has had for years and years.

This issue was: The print is too small and I can't read it!!
The "solution" became: I know! We'll add a new font!
The result is: We'll see.

Putting strike-throughs on 0s is good to differentiate them from Os (if you see what I mean.)
But, having seen on the dev blog examples of the solution, I'm not very enthusiastic about the
original issue being addressed. You know how people get when they start playing with fonts.

I guess the tale of the tape will come twenty years from now when you can identify veteran
EVE players by their coke bottle-bottom glasses...or not...

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

I understand everyone wants the new font and everything (I've gotten used to the font a long time ago.)

But what good does a new font do if you have to shrink it down super unreadably tiny because it sucks at making efficient use of space? With how gawdawful CCP has always been at UI design, I just know the new font is going to suck ass.

edit: does anyone else get the overall impression that the new font was designed with a big dull crayon?
