Ishtar need a new position

Fitting an Ishtar is a nightmare,
it is really unbelievable, Ishtar maybe the ship with fewest cpu in cruiser-class , even fewer than its T1 variation vexor.
The bonus on medium hybrid weapon is tasteless. Apart from only 3 turrets, you even hardly can fit it with 3 neutron blasters.
Well after you struggle through one fit, more pitifully, you can hardly find a right offensive role for it, as an AHAC.

With a series of new balance of drone boat like vexor, navy vexor, gila, dominix, armageddon. the position of Ishtar has been an
old old story. I know the new balance of AHAC is on schedule, however, there are some good way to make Ishtar an unique
attack drone boat. The new balance of navy vexor, which gives it 10% track speed and 10% speed is just a good example.
For me, i would like take the place of turret bonus as a new drone bonus like 10%track speed, and 5km operation distance ( which is 2km in default. ) to get drone returning drone bay immediately like recovering the probes. This will find Ishtar a good position in AHAC gank team.

An interesting fact about blasters: very few ships types can fit all neutrons in its respective class with any useability. . But hey, lets not fix glaring shortcomings in a ship's stats, instead nerf t3's and all your problems will be solved.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

I like the ishtar, you just need to ignore the hybrid bonus and not fit guns on it.

I guess CCP could swap that hybrid bonus for something more usefull.

Pretty sure T2 will get its rebalance in due time anyway.

Actually, the Ishtar is something between '****' and 'awesome', but not just ok. Compared to her Sisters the Vexor and the Vexor navy issue, the Ishtar is a fine relic from another time. Let's face it, Vexor navy is the better Drone Ship, Vexor is almost as good as the Ishtar. More Range might in theory something nice, but this is like a Medium Neutron blaster - on the paper it looks awesome, but in practice its just useless. A 85km operation range for scout & heavy drones is just.. useless? Fitting wise the Ishtar is even worse than the Vexor & Vexor Navy.
But that's the big Heavy Assault Cruiser Problem, since the cruiser & navy cruiser rebalance hit the live-servers, almost every tech2 compared to its tech1 counterpart are just useless (with 1, maybe 2 exceptions).

Be patient, the Ishtar will get its moment of glory. In the meantime... have a look at the Navy Vexor. With 2 nanos the damn thing can MWD at speeds of 2k m/sec and field a full flight of sentry drones. It lacks tank... but my god is it an awesome drone-kiter.

Ishtars are actually quite good in small scale HAC gangs as an Anti-EWAR platform.

Ishtar is a really awesome exploration boat. Look it up and you will see why. Also pro tip train t2 sentry def worth it.

Concur. It's a great exploration ship and drones will be agressed. But now after reading about navy vexor i have doubts. Should i ? I mean it has crazy resists and nice bonuses. And it's expensive. In the range of new pirate battlecruisers , right ?

How would you fit exploring Ishtar ?

I'm a diplomat. Sometimes i throw 425mm wide briefcases at enemy. Such is EVE.

With the recent buffs the navy vexor just seems better, unless you need the huge drone bay or high resist the navy issue vexor seem like the better ship. It has one more low and rig slot, gives +25% tracking to sentry drones and it's also faster then the Ishtar.

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

The Ishtar is one of the best, most versatile cruisers in the game. It's easily one of the better HACs. It's fittings are basically only things keeping it in check.

Again, apparently ongoing shop rebalancing is a ******* hard concept to grasp.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie
