Finally, the oft-lamented Dagan mission. The million-ISK question: to attempt to be a badass and solo it, or to put in a request to fleet up with some fellow pilots and take him out puppy-pile style?

:) You can always try it solo first and just warp away if you cannot kill him.

Dagan isn't that dangerous - orbit him close enough and he wont even be able to hit you.
The problem is his tank - his resists and regeneration makes it hard to kill him.

Still, it is possible to kill him solo, even as a new player, especially as Minmatar. (Because one can chose the damage type done by projectile weapons.) According to Chruker, the best damage to deal is explosive, so Fusion is the ammunition of choice. (When I did it, I couldn't kill him the first time, then I came back with a stack of EMP S, Phased Plasma S and Fusion S, tried them all out and then killed him with the one that did the most damage.)

If you get help, be careful whom you chose, there players who'll offer you help, then steal Dagan and try to ransom him to you.

Actually, I literally just finished the mission, and I did indeed solo it. Used Fusion S rounds and Nova missiles, AB at 500 m and he wore down pretty fast. In fact, I was surprised at how easy it was and how little damage I took. Couldn't have done it without the exhaustive resources I found in here and on the web, another testament to the power of community within this game.

Looking forward to what comes next, wherever that may be!
