Targeting mechanic improvement

The current targeing system works. No doubt about it. It's decent, but could be improved.
My suggestion is to allow for more intelligent targeting that is user controlled.

1. Targeting lists.

For example, rather then having to call out primarys I can drag and drop ships intoa targeting list that everyone in fleet can see. Not only can they see it but they can click a button called primary and it automatically selects the ship I dropped into the primary slot.

2. Another targeting idea would be to improve how targets are chosen by my on board pod pilot computer. It's the future right?
I mean targets can be selected based on size, so if I program my targeting computer to select closest ship, poof thecomputer just randomly picks the closest ship like a genie!!! Yes Master?

3. However what if I want to filter by size or types of ships? No problem, just choose BS, BC or frigate, small medium large filter and now this tells the targeting computer that I mea to target those ships.

So now not only can I pick targets by proximity but also by size.

Finally, I would like the computer to target the max number of targets I can lock at once. I'm pretty sure no one wants to click on 50 targets one by one.Improve the targeting by allowing us to select multiple targets THEN hit the crosshairs and PRESTO all the selections are targeted. The mechanic would be to select up to 8 targets, then click the targeting button. Pretty simple but OH so useful.

Every day in every way I improve my skills and get better.

I like the ideas in general, especially targeting based on size and Primary\Secondary slots for Fleet engagements. Awww hell I just like this idea.

I like ... now, would this allow the pilot to make a list of 15 (or however many) targets and cycle in the new ones as you pop "active" ones.

e.g. a Domi has a max locked targets (ship limit) of 6 targets (or whatever, at work and working from spotty memory).. so you have 6 + 9 targets in the area, pop any one of the 6 active targets, and the system auto-locks the next target in your list

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Ideally its user controlled and the list should be unlimited imho. Plus allowing to quickly sort ships as conditions on battlefield change is critical, meaning you can alter the list and update your primary targrts. Up to fc to decide.

Plus the list can be saved by pilots and fc to study the tactics after the battle.

i like this idea. +1, how about a setting to target ewar ships, either all kinds or a checkbox for each type of ewar so you can pop the scramblers first or get the ecm

1. Properly keybinded target broadcast shortcuts do the same as OP suggests.

2+3. Feasible with properly configured overview settings.

Finaly, ctrl+LMB on overview

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

Overview filters would be more than good enough.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Nobody loves Auto-Targeting Systems.

"What do I put in this stupid utility high?"
"How about an Auto-Targeting System?"
"...Nah."

Rejected and unloved at every step. How tragic.
