So I want to build tech II modules like the new tech II scanning modules without relying on the market at all. I have a few agents making mech engineering stuff and others, but I don't know the best way to get into it. How do I calculate costs? Where do I run jobs and which kinds of jobs? What are the most important guidelines/tips? Can I do this close to Jita? Can I avoid operating an antiquated pos system? How can I get the tech 1 scanning modules without turning to the market?

Congrats on your new career choice. To answer your questions in the order received:

Addition.
Depends and research/copy/invention/manufacturing.
Make sure that the endeavor is the most efficient use of time and resources.
YES!!
YES!!
Depends on your current skill, network, etc.

Hope that was helpful and good luck in your budding career!

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

You might be surprised, but that was the least helpful way to respond while still sounding like it was a response. So to press your answers:
Add what? Isn't there a software tool or two that makes it easy?
Which stations are likely to have the slots needed? When will I need each slot in the process?
Aren't all the station slots in high sec used? Where are the best stations with the right slots open found?
How do I get tech I scanning modules from the NPC seeding?

Where are the pro tips so I can get started with tech II scanning module manufacturing? Post when you have something useful to add.

Why don't you have a look around and do some of your own research rather then asking other people to explain everything for you, unless you want to give them a well deserved reward for their efforts.

This one's a bit over the edge guys.

Good luck with that. T2 modules need moon mats. Unless you're very friendly with several nullsec alliances, you'll need to hit the market for those. Plus there's no way that you'll generate enough data cores by yourself (unless you have many, many alts)

p.s. For questions on building stuff, try Science and Industry. Industrialists tend to hang out there.
