I am thinking we may see a crash soon on explorer loot (especially decrypters which are super easy to get once you understand the spew cans) so dont get caught with worthless loot! The hacking game with lvl 4 skills and correct modules / rigs makes the game very easy in lowsec and as I mentioned above the loot spew is not that hard to do solo especially for decrypters which only appear in parts cans.

haha just wanting to help out fellow explorers :( I know some who horde away there finds for months and It would be sucky coming into a trade hub with worthless loot because you waited too long...

He's talking about explorer loot from profession sites, I'd guess - decryptors, salvage, etc.

I've noticed the same thing, and I've been selling after every night's exploration run as a result. It's amazing that general has a few threads chock-full of things like 'I made 900mil last night in a few hours this is an amazing patch!' and none of them seem to understand that a player-run economy just won't sustain that sort of thing. Some of the decryptor/salvage prices already seem to be taking a %20-40 dip. Hopefully that's because it's the first week and everyone is trying out the new features, but I don't know...

Honestly, I think there were so many problems that explorers had with Odyssey back in the testing phase that certain things got focused on (lootspew) while other things that seemed just as troubling (no more rats in profession sites) flew totally under the radar. People are fitting cheap covops and pulling loot that, at least temporarily, is worth hundreds of millions. No tank, no gank, no problem.

The market will flood, more will pile on the profession sites, and I'm worried it could really harm full-time explorers that made their living that way.

These kinds of issues will always sort themselves out eventually. There many aspects of the game that would have to be totally broken to prevent one from making ISK.

I hope it only has to do with everyone running the sites to try out the new mechanics. As far as i can tell the sites don't pay better as the old ones did even with the nifty little cargo scanner trick.

If prices keep plummeting and more people keep doing exploration then before Odyssey then an adjustment of the loot tables might be necessary. Not just reduction of some drops but above all a wider range of things dropping so that not everybody hauls the same stuff to the market.

Working as intended. T2 rig prices were way too high before.

The addition of Capital Rigs should help offset the increased supply of salvage materials currently flooding the market, but even so I suspect loot prices will stay down for quite awhile.

Tech 2 capital rigs take an insane amount of tech 2 salvage to make, at current prices one of those rigs would cost more than the capital hull itself, so maybe working as intended?

Edit: you beat me to the punch P

Ah, was looking for this thread. Currently prices on the more profitable decryptors from low sec sites are half of what they were last night. T2 salvage seem to be holding on, though.

I really, really hope this won't last...

No. Sometimes yes but mostly not. Have a look at T1 salvage market and prices before and after the implementation of the Noctis. I can remember a time, where Melted Capacitor Consoles were worth 500k isk and this price was stable. Add the fact, that less and less people fly T2 ships because of strong and powerful T1 hulls, T3s and faction ships. That decreases the need for a lot of decrypters even further.

This is great, helps bringing down the cost of invention. Just like with ice miners, a few explorers will quit and market readjust, of course right at this moment there has most likely been an extra influx due to new people trying out the new system. Time will tell if they stick around after summer...
