If I set up a PoS, and than invite characters that drop my corps standing below the required limit, will the pos stay online and functional?

Unless they changed things, the POS will remain operational if Standings drop.

The standings are only required to erect the PoS, once it's up they don't matter, unless you need to take it down for any reason.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Just make sure you don't ever run out of fuel (including starbase charters if you're in high-sec), or you'll have to get your standings back up to re-online it.

Hmm I didn't know about that, I thought you only needed standing for anchoring. It's not mentioned in the official wiki.

Yes, the corporate standing is only checked when the POS tower is anchored.

It is actually, on this page under the heading Location, Location, Location:

'Starbases can only be anchored in 0.0 > 0.7 Starsystems, additionally to Anchor a Starbase in a 0.5 > 0.7, your corporation will need to have the standing equal to that security rating towards the faction holding the system i. For example, to anchor in a 0.7 in Amarr Empire Soverign system your corporation will need to have a 7.0 standing towards the Amarr Empire. Details regarding the standings mechanics can be found here.'


Again, the corporation standing is only relevant for the anchoring of the POS tower. After that it can be on-lined, off-lined, etc. as much as you like, even when the standing has dropped.
