Before Odyssey I could fly a Charon, lost it ...Cry
Can't find a clear answer : if I buy a new one can I still fly it or do I have to train the 24 days extra who came with the
release of Odyssey?

You need Advanced Spaceship Command 5 for freighters now.

Now that the Charon is a T3 ship (yay! industrial tech 3 overhaul!) you have to be careful about losing skill points upon ship destruction if you don't have the new prereqs. =(

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Obviously this is because you didn't lift a single finger to look for an answer.

If you could fly it before you can fly it now.

All the pre-requisites do is stop you learning the caldari freighter skill. If you have the freighter skill you can fly it.

That change only affects those training for it now. If you could fly it before, you can fly it now.

Are you reading the prerequisites correctly?

Not for the ships. Just for the skills.

If he´s got the freighter skilled plugged in allready he should be able to fly it, the new prereqs are only for injecting not flying. The mantra to remember is: if you could fly it before you can fly it now.

This is your answer.

The only thing that would stop you from flying it would be dying enough times to completely lose the freighter skill. Other than that you're good.

Oh ok sorry, I misread the OP's question.

If you lose SP through a bad clone, you don't actually lose the skill. So even then it wouldn't matter.

That could be. But with so many posting the same thing over and over, (I can't fly after the change etc) I have my doubts.

To fly a Charon post patch you need Advanced Spaceship Command to 1 (yes 1, not 5) and Caldari Freighter to 1, that is all.

Now if you somehow lose the Caldari Freighter skill, then you will need to get Advanced Spaceship Command to 5 before you can inject it again.

I hope that helps.

IF YOU COULD FLY IT BEFORE, YOU CAN FLY IT NOW.

Regardless of what the prereqs say, if you could jump in and pilot the ship before Odyssey, you can jump in and pilot it now.

IF YOU COULD FLY IT BEFORE, YOU CAN FLY IT NOW.

This of course does not apply to the lazy ******* who didnt inject and train the skill before odyssey, and just sat there with the warm fuzzy of knowing that they could inject the skill if they wanted to based on the prereqs, but were too busy procrasterbating.

So in closing,

IF YOU COULD (Physically) FLY IT BEFORE, YOU CAN FLY IT NOW.

/thread.

This question again, huh?

You know how the Eve community generally believes itself to be a bit smarter than other MMO communities?

Yeah, we need to stop that.

They should post a dev blog that consists of nothing but this copy+pasted for 10 pages. Actually, they should make it like the EULA, where you have to scroll to the bottom and click accept before it lets you post.

This is literally impossible.
I'm pretty sure it's also impossible to lose level 1 of any skill, as well. I suppose I could try this on the test server, but eh.

When you get podded in an insufficient clone, your highest SP skill loses either 5% of the difference between your clone's rated SP and your own SP, or half of the SP of that skill, whichever is less. So if somebody has Amarr Titan V for example and 150m SP and loses an alpha clone at 900,000 SP, they'll lose 2,048,000 SP which is the most you can possibly lose, from Amarr Titan V since a rank 16 skill at level V is the highest SP skill in the game (there are 5 of these).

Naw, you would still get idiots posting threads like this one, asking if they can still fly their "X" after the patch.
