The only people you can hurt in this game, are people who are not out to ruin other people's fun

Rules are what make New Eden a happy and civilised place for all involved.

This game is only harsh and cold for people who choose to behave as sensible beings. How does that even make sense?

The flaw in that argument is that there are plenty of sites, eg Evelopedia, that explains all the mechanics you need to know. The only real exception is perhaps the margin trading scam, but for everything else, you have access to the knowledge that would put you on an equal footing.

I don't think they're mutually exclusive, but the bit I like is that it's player-led. I'm playing against people rather than AI. The price for that is that there may be some people I dislike, but all things considered, that's a pretty small price in my opinion.

The other thing is, if there is no retribution, it's because you're choosing not to go serve it. Consequences, apart from CONCORD in hisec, has to come from players. Eve's one of the few games where your revenge can have concrete effects. Your defeated enemy can't just pay 100G to the blacksmith to repair their armor afterwards - they can lose their ships, their income, their allies... but you have to make it happen. The tools are all there, including the tools to hire people when you don't have the skills yourself.

In this gamer, people who are disruptive on purpose are coddled, as they, and their potential victims, need alts to grief and escape rules-abiding griefing. This makes sense from a business point of view, but how does it make any from a gaming point of view?

Is this still a game, or an online social platform to carry out in a virtual universe what you couldn't IRL, for fear of retribution?

You're even making bears like me blink the blood out of my eyes with your drivel. Have a good read at what Malcanis wrote, I would have written along the same lines. From what you're writing, this game is really not for you. Believe it or not, there are "pubbies" and "carebears" (like me) in this game who would not have it any other way. You however, want 'easy mode' and everyone loves everyone else.

What is your gaming point of view in terms of EVE, what do you or where you expecting ? Do what you want, how you want and when you want, within the established confines of the EULA and you will enjoy this game. On the other hand, if you're expecting no interaction or any consequences when you undock, you're definitely in the wrong game.

No chaos = no fun, it's that simple in EVE.

There is the problem... players thinking they are victims. EvE is player vs player... if you were looking for something else you picked the wrong game.

No, it's only full of dangers for people who naively believe that there is, in a game, a tacit agreement not to seek to ruin your fellow gamer's experience. Anonymity and online gaming negate this agreement for people without empathy.

I wouldn't have a problem with EvE being a game chock full of wannabes **** Cheney who can finally be aggressive in a virtual world with zero consequences for their actions (unrelated accounts, alts), if there was another space game with persistent world, single shard etc.

OOOOH.

I get it.

You naively presumed that people agreed to not do something bad to you, because it was convenient for you.

That's really adorable hunny baby bunny. I think you should try doing stuff in the real world, where people are:

Murdered
Raped
Sold as children for sex
Scammed for real money
Tortured
ET CETERA.

Do you walk around your real life and presume that you have a tacit agreement with every person you meet that they aren't going to violate your self-perceived entitled sovereignty that does not exist?

Yes, this is a game. It also happens to be a game for people to do what they want, where the rules are meant to be broken. And you are surprised that people do these "bad things"?

Your total sense of victimization is the best part of this. You presume you can't be better, you can't hit back, you can't strike back. You're just not creative enough. And I don't mean SMART. Smart has nothing to do with this. It's about wit, tact, skill. I know dumb players who out play smart people all the time. They just got good at what they do.

Your individualistic, independent and entitled view point is really not charming anyone.

Well, when you realize that ganking and scamming are legit "careers" in EVE, you realize that it's quite sad that people resort to it out of nothing better to do in the game. People actually pay to make other people's lives miserable in this game.

Sad indeed.
