Just looking for a good ship for close range and salvager drones.
Currently run a rifter, but it's lack of drone capability makes it not work for me.
Any idea?
Appreciate any help.

edit: I went through all the ships myself and found probably the most useful ones to be cyclone or brutix. Any ideas on which one I should lean more towards?

Breacher can have 2 drones but what exactly are you doing with it?

I'm really not sure right now. I want to kill rats essentially until I get more funded for PvP. Then I'd want to still be close range, but be bounty hunting. My goal is to be able to bounty hunt.

I think salvaging would be a good way to make money, but using a salvager mod is too time consuming and ineffiecient.

i think I'd need more than 2 salvager drones, but I'm not sure.

salvaging is not worth it unless you're doing it on battleship wrecks or sleeper wrecks. Not worth your time to use salvage drones one the rats you can kill in a frigate.

Any idea how to make money then? The money from bounties alone isn't worth it.

Sounds good, I think I'm going to be heading towards using a brutix. Seems right for the playstyle I want. Thanks for help

Just work your way up towards higher level missions, the rewards, bounties and loot increases a lot.
As for salvaging, i used algos with drones for lazy salvaging, full 5 drones + speedbuff = afk salvagerdream.
Also the old destroyers with 8 highslots are good before you can get real salvageship for l4s (noctis).
You could also go try your luck with exploring, thats all the rage nowdays.

Basically you can make isk in this game in countless ways just do what you like and get better in it for more isk.

You can make decent coin salvaging. I know there's several corps that will take salvage contracts for you to clean up after mission runners who don't want to. The thing is, if you think salvager modules are inefficient, the salvage drones are WAY more inefficient.

Remember, too, it's always better to have a scalpel than a Swiss Army knife. Do one thing well--meaning, fit your ship for one optimal purpose. If you want to make isk, fit a ship to run missions OR a fit a ship to salvage behind the mission runners. But trying to have a ship do it all--outside of some *very* specific fits for purpose-driven ships--and you'll end up doing many things poorly and nothing well.

Enter grid and you're already dead, destined to be reborn and fight another day.

Ignore the Eve Uni dude's bad advice. First, any ship with a drone bay that you want to use salvager drones with will work fine. High sec combat sites yield sellable or usable salvage, including intact components from Commander wrecks (use a salvager there, not drones). Belts rats are OK, too, just slower going. If you rat in COSMOS systems you can also supplement the income with the pirate tags in the wrecks.

When you get up to L3 and L4 missions, your best bet is to use a Noctis for the salvaging, and either sell the components or use them to build T1 rigs and sell those. I salvage all L3 and better missions and use the salvage to build rigs to sell or use. Just telling someone not to salvage is just plain stupid, unless that person is interested ONLY in isk/hr or grinding one thing or the other.

Salvaging NPCs while ratting is useful if you manage to find some faction/T2 spawns. In that regard a corax and dragoon can be pretty good choices due to drone damage/survivability bonuses and speed bonuses. They're not bad for killing stuff in high-sec belts and sub-L3 missions either.

Also remember that you don't have to kill the rats yourself in order to salvage them. Plenty of people will quite happily kill battleship rats for you in high sec level 4 missions, and they all tend to fly large, easy to scan ships. All you need are a cheap frigate, a couple of salvagers, and some rudimentary probing skills. Just ignore their impotent cries of rage; there's nothing they can do to stop you, and you're doing them a valuable service by tidying up the mess they've left.

Nice, so you're going to wait around for your salvage drones to get that tasty salvage from T1 frigate and destroyer wrecks that will most likely amount to a fraction of the bounty (which is pathetic already).

Do you honestly think a new player has the skills to

1. Scan combat sites
2. Actually run them within reasonable time
3. Actually take down a commandar rat

Ignore the Ginger Monster and find a better way to get ISK. One great way is by going to mission hubs and advertising yourself as a salvager. A t1 destroyer with salvagers doesn't take too long to train into and you'll find a lot of mission runners will let you keep everything you salvage.
