Nobody wants it removed. They just want a checkbox to disable it for themselves if they have motion sickness.

Correct, Just the ability to turn it off or on. I don't mind it every now and again, but the inability to turn it off is something many would like.

it's not long enough to cause motion sickness anyhow. Even the longest jumps the animation only lasts for a couple seconds...

if it lasts longer than 2 or 3 seconds you need to upgrade your pc or get a solid state hard drive or something.

the jump animation lasts about 2 and half seconds for me and it's awesome.

Way to prove that you have no idea what you are talking about, on all fronts you tried. SSHD? Seriously? My grandmother knows more about computers than you do.

the jump animation length is direct related to loading time

the faster your hard drive the faster the jump animation is.

on my laptop mechanical hard drive the jumpgate animation rides for about 8 seconds

my gaming pc with the kingston 120g solid state drive the jumpgate animation ride is 2 seconds.

I don't get the 'see a doctor' guy. People get motionsick. They make pills for people to take when on boats and planes. Dr. McCoy can't give you a pill so you'll grow a new visual cortex. Some people don't play FPS because it makes them sick. I myself can stand on my head in the back of a car facing backwards while reading a book and not get sick. But sheesh man have some empathy.

CCP released a feature in a game that is completely third person, that for several seconds turns it into a first person experience. They compounded that by integrating rapid camera motions that are totally out of control of the player. Finally they did that to a portion of the game that every single player other than maybe Gevlon must experience. Some blow back is to be expected. Some issues with people who have issues with first person games should have been anticipated. Eve players are also, in my experience, huge control freaks who probably wouldn't take to the game suddenly doing things for them.

CCP needs to provide an option to turn it off just like they have options to turn off a bunch of other things.

I like it too. But I want to be able to turn it off... like, yesterday. Because I do long roams, with many jumps, and as nice as that animation is, and it is... It still gets old very fast, and bothersome.
Just let me turn it off and all is well.

In America, we design all concepts around our roads.

And if you have one tard in the road, EVERYBODY is going the same speed as the tard.

So, naturally, if a few people claim to get sick from the jump animation, it's expected that it would be gotten rid of.

Luckily CCP is in Iceland.

Yes CCP telling players to upgrade their computer so they can see a animation they don't like and isn't a necessary game mechanic for the least amount of time possible seems like a good strategy. I think maybe board troll is calling the board troll a troll.

Again, no one is asking them to get rid of it. We are merely asking for the option to disable it. You guys want your glorified toilet flush? Great, have at it. For those of us that it bothers, it should be optional.

Bravo. Intelligent life is found in the thread.

P.S. I look away (local or dscan) as I don't get that sick (more like disoriented) but not sure how it's going to work with PvPers so affected,, the 1/2-1 sec delay. Should find out today or tomorrow how it works (or doesn't) for me.

I cover it up with the browser, so you can still get the overview and local info after jump. I'm not expecting an option anytime soon. I have Meniere's Disease and the animation is way too much for me. It's quite annoying to have something added to the game to create problems where there were none before, but whatever.

In America, we tend to accommodate people who have handicaps (beyond even that which is legally necessary) and not send them out on an iceberg. We really should stop that. Get rid of everyone who isn't like me. Great philosophy.

Wouldn't you like a checkbox to turn off the clouds?
Wouldn't you have liked a checkbox to turn off the CQ?

We dont need a check box because people are telling lies.

Since I do not live in the bodies of everyone complaining, I can't say that you are wrong, for a lot of people. That being said, I went from playing Eve about five to eight hours per day before Tuesday, to the few minutes that it took me to make three gate jumps, get ill, make the three jumps back to station while looking away, and dock up. Haven't logged in since, and cancelled sub when I found that there was no option to kill the animation. I assure you, if I were lying, I'd still be playing whilst complaining about it. Though you don't have access to the information to verify my claim, CCP does, and that's all that matters.

I'm surprised people do get sickness from this animation, but I'm not against a check button to turn it off.

If you were to look away during the animation does that keep you from feeling ill? If so, why not just do that while waiting for a check box instead of not playing at all? It's a PITA I'm sure but I'd probably put up with it for awhile at least if I wanted to EVE.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

Ok, I do not get motion sickness, now that is out of the way I will explain why these new graphical touches are a big game spoiler for myself.

First, the whole reason I got hooked on playing Eve was the immersive world we as players inhabited, its space and as such is not meant to have bright colourfull diamonds littering the vast depths of blackness, this totally takesaway the immersion of being in another world right out of the frame and then we have the gate animation, thats all I'll say about that, enough has already been posted.

What ccp have done right here is take a living and breathing alternate world, one in which a player could get totally lost in for hours and be apart of and turned it into a .......... video game.

Eve just lost its unique immersive raw qualitys that made it stand out from the crowd and turned the atmosherics into something that reminds us every few minutes that we are just playing a game.

I don't want colourfull shapes lighting up the darkness of a space mmog, I dont want to be jerked back from my immersion every minute when on a roam, dont try to keep up with other games on the bells and whistles front, not in space where it is meant to be cold and dark.

Yes, looking away, keeping up the map or browser, etc. does prevent the feeling. However, I honestly feel that by continuing to play a game which is now effectively broken for me by using workarounds, I am giving my consent for them to leave this problem unchecked. I'll keep my skill queue updated, as that obviously doesn't require gatejumping, but other than that, there's not much reason for me to log in as it stands.

Well, I did, and...

There is little way to prevent this type of motion sickness except to close one's eyes during such scenes or to avoid such movies.

In other words, the guy that told you to look away before wasn't far off, and not as stupid as you claim. Regardless of how many people it affects, there is very little actual motion going on and far more extreme examples of stuff that might cause motion sickness in other visual media. In any case, I completely agree, and said so before the expansion, that an alternative option needs to be made available. Removing it completely, however, would rob many players that enjoy the experience.
