Is there a way to get the scan results showing again after changing ships? there doesn't seem to be an option to manually scan for anoms without probes as there was before the patch. The only way I see is to jump through the wh and back again to get it to auto scan.

How about the ship boni of the covert op frigs?

Covert Ops Skill Bonus:
20% reduced CPU need for Cloaking Devices per level
10% increase to scan strength of probes per level
10% reduction to survey probe flight time per level
+10 Virus Strength to Relic and Data Analyzers <- not working at all? My modules show only 30 strength, which seems to be rather a 50% bonus to the 20 strength of tech I modules with CovOpsV.. Since there is no other way to increase strength it would be nice if either:
a) the skill description gets revamped to what it actually does (if anything)
b) actually get +10 strength per level

edit: ah now i get it. it's a misplaced role bonus.... btw emergent locus analyzer has this one wrong too then

Many expert scanners are now annoyed because the system they were so good at has changed, so they are not as good as they were before. Inept or mediocre scanners are delighted because the new system is easier and faster overall so they feel like they are pro now.

The right course for the expert scanners it to keep an open mind, tackle the new system and get as pro at it as they were with the old system, once again becoming even better and faster scanners than the permanoobs. I for one will try to do that Cool

I am open-minded and believe that most changes will feel familiar again after a couple of days. So far changes make for faster scanning for all and in the long run experience again will make the difference between pro and occasional explorer or combat scanner :).

However, I am wondering if anyone had problems with the system scanner overlay in wh's? My scanner does not show anoms and sigs before I drop probes and do a system scan. Does the automatic system scanner have a limited range like the DS?

Not sure if it was the change ship-no update bug but I believe it already happened on entering the wh system. I will check again tonight.

Personally, I don't like new scanning becoming too easy, killing a good portion of the personal skill that it required to effectively find targets.

And I'm afraid the hunter-seeker T3 I always liked to fly is a dead ship, for we'll need to raplace point with scan-modules to be in-line. ((

Scanning seems easy and fast enough for me even without the modules, so trading the added scanning speed for optimal combat-readiness is not unreasonable imho. In EVE there should be no ship that is perfect at everything, you always have to make choices.

CCP have aimed to make scanning more accessible, and they have certainly achieved that quite well. They just did it at the expense of the pros who already knew what they were doing.

it's actually not that.
personally i do like what theyve done with it but it just isnt coherent.

things like moving the scanning icons, not being able to ignore anoms, reversing the way shift and alt shortcuts work, not being able to launch 1 probe at a time ect are just dumb. Theyre all arbitrary changes that dont affect the way scanning works but are simply annoying and not well thought out.

things like changing what existing shortcuts do and moving UI icons without reason are just things you do not do in the software development world. It's an absolute rookie mistake.

and those are just initial things found almost immediately after 5 min of probing last night.
i'll put together a thorough review once i have some spare time in RL to actually play eve a bit.

Cant wait for in depth review.

In general I like new scanning but there are definitely things to sort out like ignoring anoms, ignoring signatures on overlay and quite a few other things.

to ignore anoms while scanning signatures, I switched filter to cosmic signatures and unchecked the cosmic anomalies box. I just turn the overlay off. not useful at all when all ready scanning.

The new modules are OP though.

The not costumizable scannertabs are my biggest problem. On my tiny monitor every k-spaceanom is called "Angel ..." and I have to pull it all over everything else to find the site nullbears rat in.
Not being able to launch a single combatprobe is just bad.
Also you have to move the hand away from the keyboard to not press shift all the time by accident.

Has anyone had an issue with the window that lists your active probes? Mine always seems to be sorted by the time deployed column. As these numbers are constantly changing and identical due to the launching of all probes at once, this causes the probe list to constantly reorder itself every second which is infuriating when trying to change the size of certain probes. There's also no column headers any more so you can't change the sort column.

I might be missing something as I've only had a quick play with the new system due to being busy IRL but it seemed to me the distances shown to sigs in the scanner overlay was massively different to the distance shown in the dscan result for the same Sig.

Dropping probes in formation, or grouping probes in a formation instantly is a good thing, as it eliminates the tedium of doing that each time you deploy probes. When they get the saved formations ready, that will be better.

Dropping all of your probes with one button-push is a good thing, as again, we would just spam the probe launcher while watching dscan anyway. More tedium removed. Ideally, they would let us launch as many as we wanted.

Dropping all of your probes instantly is bad because it reduces the scanner's exposure to danger. Making the probe launcher cycle once for each probe being deployed is the proper solution. That would allow the push-button-receive-probes action while making sure the scanner remains vulnerable as long as he used to be.

Recalling probes instantly is also bad, because it reduces the exposure time for the probes. If they don't have to fly to your ship from their current location in space, there is a lower chance of them being detected as they move.

At this point, the probe launcher and probes are mostly cosmetic, and the probes could be reduced to a script-type ammo. This would make more sense especially with the instant deploy and instant recall.

THAT's what is missing! Thanks, I was going out of my mind trying to figure out what was missing as it just didn't feel right anymore.

Yep beginners are happy.
But no one mentioned about ccp taking deep space probes from expirieced players and not giving anything back, if you never used dsp you will probably not know what im writing about. Now we need to scan all signatures even ****** ones to find out there is nothing interesting for us. DSP reduced that time from 30% to 50% and if you scan 20+ systems, it's alot of time. And i hate scanning (in general) to do pve, im only looking for combat sites (7/10, 8/10 and 10/10). Why not give back sisi version when unknown signature had signal strenght? I feel cheated by ccp taking into account how scanning worked on sisi when I was checking last time (not final release).

ps. sorry for lang. english is not my natvie language

DSPs got removed because you now have one built into your ship. ;)

Yes, but this one is broken, not showing signal strengthUgh

The most annoying thing I've found in the new system is all my probes appearing at the center of a system by default on the scanning screen, while they still are on my overview around my ship. Probably caused me to miss a drop on two domi's in lowsec last night, but now that I'm adjusted to it, it shouldn't be so bad. Evil

I like the old scanning system, but its like they took my bicycle and turned it into a moped. It works sorta the same, but its also really different at the same time.

That is exactly their intention, and likely also why you can't launch just one probe.
