Suggestion for ICE MINING: The Final Solution

I've spent the morning reading through a number of ice mining threads and have come to a conclusion I think everyone will love- a tweak to the new ice spawning mechanics. This might apply to high sec only. Or in null, it could be affected by sov.

Spawn only a single asteroid of each type of ice in high sec. All the various ice types could spawn in a single belt in high sec, or one of each asteroid type could spawn in various systems.

This would encourage a sense of community among ice miners as they would all have to come to the same belt in high sec for mining together. It would also encourage agents of the New Order to all come to the same belt as well for enforcement of the Code.

For instance, spawn only a single asteroid of White Glaze in high sec. It could spawn in Poinen, then after it's depleted a message could come up saying in a couple hours it will spawn like 15 jumps away. The message could be some sort of transmission from an npc miner who has discovered a new location.

So what does everyone think? I think it has the potential to please everyone.

Came here expecting a suggestion to send ice miners off to the camps. I am disappoint.

As i was reading that post, the only thought that kept coming into my head was....."Create massive disco fleet."

Your suggestion is terrible from an ice miner's perspective, especially if mining in backwater systems away from trade hubs. So, suicide ganker I assume? Smile

The final solution for ICE MINING is to systematically kill all mining barges, so there are no more barges left.

Ice mining is ridiculous.

CCP need to replace it with an ice-tray system. You transfer, via PI, liquids from a planet, then put the liquids into a big ice tray in space, where they naturally turn into blocks due to the cold.

A new ship just for this can be invented.

The suggested graphical model.

How *dare* you sally the good name of Erotica 1. She is mostly no suicide ganker - she selflessly spends her days in Jita doubling the ISK of those that seek her help. Such a kind individual would never dream of donating 2 billion ISK to a bunch of kill-hungry psychopaths in Thrashers.

Now apologize.

This is essentially what she is suggesting. 100s of miners all around one ice roid would be a massive, hilarious fireworks show.

You going to mine and build your own ships? Yeah...I didn't think so.

Well there's always miners in null sec who can provide ore as well. Don't forget them.

I decided to hold some ideas back, to avoid the original post being too long to read. I was also going to suggest enhancing null sec by allowing upgrades to "pull" some of the yield away from high sec into null.

For example (and this is only an example, don't read too much into it), Goonswarm might upgrade their sov enough to pull in say 25% of all of the Ice to their sov. The more sov you hold, and the more it is upgraded, the higher the percentage of ice and ore you get in your space.

This would greatly improve the power struggles in null sec and make the whole game more interesting for everyone!

Seeing the epic amount of sense in your suggestion i find it amazing that no one has tried a final solution before.
Once again Erotica1 is well ahead of the field.

The extermination of mining ships doesn't have anything to do with building ships, just with the eradication of the Mining Barge and Exhumer shipline.
