Gauss vs. T2 Rails?

I have been working my skills up to T2 rails since that seems to be on everyone's fits, but I am not sure why. When I compare my currently fitted Guass hybrid to T2 it seems that they have the same damage/speed/distance but the T2 has more drawbacks when it comes to PG, CPU, and GJ usage. Am I missing something? Is there a piece of the equation that I don't have? Plus, the cost for a T2 250mm Railgun is 2-3x the cost.

Name: Damage Multiplier, Tracking Speed, Rate Of Fire, Range, Falloff
250mm Prototype Gauss Gun: 3.63x, 0.02415, 6.38, 28,800, 12,000
250mm Railgun II: 3.63x, 0.02415, 6.38, 28,800, 12,000

Name: Activation Cost, CPU, Powergrid
250mm Prototype Gauss Gun: 5.6, 32, 198
250mm Railgun II: 7.0, 42, 208

P.S. The table looks a lot better on my screen than how it actually posted. Sorry about that.

Yes, you are missing a bonus of up to 10% from the hybrid specialization skill. And T2 Ammo of course.

you are missing two things:

Firstly: you will be able to use T2 Ammo with your guns. If that helps depends on situation, and I am not an expert in Rails.
Secondly: there is another damage bonus on the T2 ones from the specialty skill. (2% per Level, iirc)

Is it worth your while? Don't know :)

Yes I did miss that. And there is always the Advanced Weapon Upgrades to reduce the PG needs too I guess.

I did notice the T2 ammo, is that a must with T2 rails?

Not always, but it does open up up new niches.

It opens up extremely long range sniping with Spike. Javelin is nice for when you're forced to fight at close range. Both have their use, mostly in PvP.
