Nullsec data/relic sites and scan deviation. working as intended?

So I have pretty good probing skills. I could scan a 10/10 in less than 5 minutes before patch but for some reason these data and relic sites are like trying to scan down a snake drowned in ky jelly.

It's as if my the deviation is outrageously magnified, I can get a 25% lock at 2au and see the dot well within my bubbles and I move them a hair in any direction and it completely disapears.

The video can explain more. But do I suddenly need perfect scanning skills + t2 rigs + implants + the new mods to scan these down?

This video is me trying to scan down a data / relic site to demonstrate the issue. I have all 4's in the relevant skills using a covops with lvl 4 covops skill. 2x grav rigs and sister probes.

Not to beat a dead horse, but -- have you checked your filters?

I did a bunch last night and I have less skills than you. Something funky is going on here I suspect.

I only ran into one pesky site in Goonswarm space that was something like this. When it got to 100%, I couldn't even warp to it until I repositioned the probes closer together.

Also I did clear my cache before making this video.

On sisi (with 5,4,4,4, no implants) I was getting massive deviations on such scans in a 2x grav, sisters, cheetah. Once I fit the range finding and pinpoint modules however things changed.

Only watched the first couple of minutes, but it looks like you were trying to scan something down that wasn't a Data/Relic site, so once it hit 25% (when the type is identified), it got filtered out. So basically what Zhilia said.

I believe you are right.

So the way the new mechanics work is when you use filters once a sig hits 40% and it is "identified" it disapears because its not in your filters. That is kind of dumb and makes filters a bit useless no? I would think if I set a filter to only show relic / data sites the only sites that would show up are relic and data sites.

It's always worked that way. In the old days, the cutoff was 25% when it identified the type. When CCP messed with the filters, a lot of people were crying they couldn't scan anything down. For the in-game reason. since your ship's computer doesn't know what type of site it is until it hits X%, it can't really filter it out before hand. At least they changed grav sites so you can exclude them entirely if you're looking for data/relic sites.

"I considered a career in griefing, but then realized that I would never achieve the level of tear generation that CCP manages to do each and every expansion."

try doing a wider scan and glue in your mind the signature your trying to find to a specific planet in the system. Do a few scans on that planet not moving the probes to make sure they belong to it.
Once you are sure the planet is right move probes toward the direction FROM the planet where a signature appears at most. If its not there move them a little back.
Once you have the direction and range pinpointed in your mind the rest is easy.
