If You Could Fly It Before...

Quick question.

Is this character bound or acct bound?

The reason I ask is that I don't want to sell someone a character and find out I've misrepresented what he can fly.

If your CHARACTER could fly it before your CHARACTER can fly it after. If you had 3 characters who could fly all 4 command ships before the patch then all three of them can STILL fly all 3 command ships. If you had 2 who could and one who couldnt then you STILL have 2 who can and 1 who cannot fly them.

Skills are not tied to accounts, they are tied to characters.

This isn't exactly true, as I can no longer fly my Obelisk. Whether I was given warning or not...

That's the thing I'm wondering.

I can fly the ship even though a look says I need another 20 days of training to sit in it. I just want to be sure that the person I sell it to can do the same.

If it's true and you didn't make an error yourself, then petition it as you should be able to. But with the amount of idiots who make misstakes and whine on the forum without even trying the undock button, I'm past the point of giving the benefit of doubt.

Just undock in it, and you'll know for sure.

if you can't, it's bugged if you could fly it before.

Know what? That I can fly it? I already know that I can fly it.

The question is will the same thing apply to the acct I sell that character to?

From what I understand it was well documented that once the new patch hit you would need Advanced Flight Command level 5 to fly Freighters, which previously you never.

Even though it was documented it still goes against their line 'what you could fly before you can fly now' and also means I have to spend another 25 days learning a skill I didn't need before..

That's the idea.

But, :CCP: so maybe petition before you sell it.

Read the Dev Blog. Learn the difference between the Pre-requisites for flying a ship and the pre-requisites for injecting a skillbook.

You need it to inject the skill, not to fly the ship. If you already had XX freighter trained, you can fly it.

Good God, Ruby!

You actually answered the question I was asking and it was helpful. I should have picked up on it myself. Too early in the day for me, I guess.

Thanks for that.

WRONG! You do not need any nested skill to FLY a ship. You need nested skills to INJECT the next higher skill. So, if you already have the Freighter skill injected you can fly a ******* freighter.

Get in the damn ship and undock.

How many times do we have to do this......

Saw the perfect explanation of this earlier. Can't remember where now.

Went something like
command ship - Hey. Wanna ride? Cool, you got command ships? Awesome hop in. Don't have those pre requisites for command skills? Don't care. That's Command ships problem.

Possibly not 100% relevant but I liked the explanation.

You don't need advanced spaceship command V to fly the ship. You need advanced spaceship command V to train freighters I. You need to have freighters I and advanced spaceship command I to fly the ship.

This lets a character fly a freighter. There is no hidden flag, attribute, or secret handshake that CCP gave a character or account that unlocks specific ships because "they could fly it before".
