Multi monitor setup issues and ideas

I have to say, I was quite surprised by support for multi screen setups in EvE, kudos for that :)

After 2 weeks of playing on dual screen I have few issues to point out. My dual screen setup is one 22" and one 17" screen. So 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 resolutions. I don't see a point in getting another 22", it's too big for my table and I don't need that much of space for stuff I generally use secondary monitor for (instant messaging, music player, HW status widgets, clock, etc).

Because of resolution difference, I can't see lower 26px of EvEs window on secondary screen, In my case clock on icon bar and before last update part of Dock icon. Dock is not issue anymore, since they moved it to right side of screen, so in my case it's on primary screen and me likes it a lot, I don't need to move my mouse across whole secondary screen anymore. But the clock remains the problem, I can't see it, so it would be nice if it could be move bit higher on the panel.

As far as camera center goes, I would like to be able to move slider by some lesser values then 10%. My ship is not in center of my primary screen (fortunately it's close enough so my brain won't notice it and it doesn't bother me all the time :)). That's the space flying thing, when I tried to get into CQ I only learned that my character would be split across both displays no matter how I move the slider, not really an issue since CQ is just "cosmetic" feature, more like oversight. Possibly major problem if Incarna happens anytime in future.

I found myself having quite lot of issues with Solar system info and combat log. I haven't found any way how to move these two around screens, so combat log in close to the edge of my primary screen, not in the center of it and the solar system info is on the left side of secondary screen, so when I need to click something over there it requires lot of mouse work. If I could move (pretty much like capacitor / modules display) to the primary screen I would be really happy.

Now, there's one more thing I would find very useful, but it's not that easy to code-in, like previously suggested UI tweaks. Could be really nice if we could just force game engine to use only one display for rendering of space-stuff and leave second screen blank, just for game windows.

This would be awesome for screen recording\player video creation!

Well, if you use multiple monitors then you'll run into the "resolution problem" very soon so try to get monitors with the SAME resolution

If I had two same resolutions, then combat log will be split in the middle between both screens, so that will not fix the issue. But yeah, I would be able to see clock in that scenario :)

And as stated in my original post, I don't want to get two 22" screens, that will waste too much space on table (not speaking about difficulty in finding screen which will not have stupid "HD" resolutions), that 17" screen is just perfect for secondary screen. After all most games don't really support multiple screens (at least not two screens, can be workaround with three screens though) and I don't think my rig would be able to run most games in such extreme resolutions.

Multi monitor support atm is just the ability to stretch the client over more than one screen. I would definitely like to see a professional multi-monitor view where one is left as it is and the other becomes a "cockpit view" with all the windows and buttons and stuff.

I would also like for the client to remember which monitor to open on SEPARATELY FOR EACH ACCOUNT for those of us who multi-box :)

Yeah, pretty much what you said.

I'm not sure how is multiboxing done in EvE (proud owner of only one account here :)), but othergames uses multiple folders with client to run in multibox setups. In that case it's more of a problem of Windows, because as far as I can remember this OS sucked at remembering size / position of windows.

If EvE is run from one folder (aka same client mutliple instances) then I think all you need is some option in per-account config of the client for setting screen it should launch on. Or something like GW2 uses, all configuration settings are stored server-side, so no matter where you login, you always have same settings.
