Why would their programming work that way? They don't follow you when you warp out. They are just destroyed or chase you off what they are working on.

To me, it is similar to expecting the robots in an auto-mobile factory to move out, of their own volition and start making ships.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

A couple of things I wouldn't mind seeing:

  • Concord failure in a high-sec system... no sec hit, no Concord response, no gate guns, 4 hours of free-for-all. Stay docked or leave system to avoid the mayhem.
  • Every once in a while, some Sleepers sneak into normal space (all sec levels) and find their way to belts or stations and harass the locals.

thats an absolutely horrible idea lol you know how many people would stop playing eve if they allowed that? 4 hours a day?

I'm all for live events. I wonder if CCP would be open to allow players to help out more with the design and running these.

Have a way to suggest a live event, with all the details down to how many ships/items would be there. How many players this would be designed for. All the possible variables submit it to CCP and as the live event team has time they could review and possibly help set these up.

I am all for CCP giving us more content but I would like some more control over this sandbox and the direction it goes. Even if it was just for small events.

This along with the new ships that came from players is a nice new direction. CCP has been creating content for us since the beginning. Yes we do create some of our own content such as Hulkagedon, and the Goon's war on the ice miners but stuff that is sanctioned by CCP could be very interesting.

I have always wanted to see space races. Even tho it is a challenge to set these up with gates It would be cool to do a check point race where there are cans in certain belts with items you need to collect. Put these like 500KM off a belt so players have to warp to the belt then race to the can to collect the items.

You could make everyone start In Jita have have 10 check points for people to goto. Make it so you have to decided on the optimum route to get all the items from the cans so not everyone is taking the same route, add in some Low sec and maybe even Null sec check points to spice it up. Announce the systems that players are going to have to goto 30 min before the race starts so people cannot just plan their route out days in advance.

like this idea. +1

needs a little work to make it more interesting such as the end prize but overall a good idea.

I'm not disputing that the drone combat interface has made great strides in the last few years.

You can organize your drones however you want to.

You can see the hp of your drones.

etc.

However, i think it could still use a little work.

I think there could be a couple of features added to them.

"Attack on aggression" would make the drones engage only when the host ship or drones themselves are aggressed.

"Passive" meaning they would only engage only said locked target and would return to your ship after its destroyed (much like it is now as a default.)

Also a "launch and engage" is needed i think so you can just click your drone group once and not two or three times to launch and then attack a target. Also there would be a "launch" setting so have the option to do as its set up now.

just a few ideas. I'm kind of out of the loop with drones sometimes and maybe some of this is already being done. would like some input from you guys it these are good or bad ideas and why.

Also, would like to hear your ideas on how you would like to improve the combat drone interface.

I've said this before in other places, but...

If I were one of the event guys, I would be badgering the WarOnLag folks to enable the amazing 'thin clients' for Event team use.

Nothing is lamer than having the 'opposition' in an EVE event be a spawn of dumb NPCs who can't focus fire, move, warp, or do anything else that ships in EVE can do. All they can do is sit there and die.

Imagine a horde of 50 sansha BS that can target logis, warp from gate to gate, retreat, regroup, drop on someone or someplace, and be dynamic...and it would require 1 person to give all of them the orders.

Additionally, this would get rid of a lot of the 'favoritism' problem you run into sometimes.

"Waa! You had an imporomptu event, and I couldn't come! You're favoring the people in that area!"
"Waa! You told everyone to come and it became a server-freezing blobfest of stupid!"

Watch all that melt away if you have at your disposal a roaming NPC fleet that can move through space on it's own. Who would be able to participate? Anyone who will notice, follow, or track down these fleets. They don't even need to be very big; a 10-strong BS fleet belonging to a pirate faction wanders through a region. Maybe they will be caught, maybe not.

Hell, can you imagine how FUN it would be to run those events? How many different types of events you could run in this manner, from fetch/find to destroy/loot and anything in between....

Thin Clients, man.

It's the answer to the harsh limits of a small event team.

Every time I bring this idea up, the topic falls off the forums. What?

Was thinking the other day about eve and how the "frontiers" of it are quickly disappearing.

CCP has been awesome in the last few months introducing new content and ships.

I'm talking more about space as a whole though. Space is far far from being overpopulated. 0.0 has huge chunks of space that usually aren't being used.

But do you guys think it would be feasible to introduce a new region?

It would give a platform to introduce a new npc race, new anomilies, new factions, etc.

It would be a huge undertaking and i'm not sure how it would be implemented fairly, aka not dropping a region in the backyard of say GSF or Red Overlord.

It may be years and years before CCP considers doing this but i'd like to know what you guys think this?

Also, would like a dev answer this question if this post is read by one of you. 07.

Goons are running an event as we speak. Also, Hulkageddon V is an open event for all players. Big smile
