[STARGATE EFFECT] Seems... incomplete.

The Stargate effect seems incomplete.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still enamoured of the concept, and the implementation as far as it goes, but it lacks a conclusion.

You spool up, aim down the Gate, shoot into some wormhole-like hyperjump space, then.... anti-climax... you're just there.

No re-entry effect. No corona, nothing... you're just... there.

2 / 3 is a great score... but I'd like a resolution to the effect. A 're-entry' to normal space graphic.

Two out of three, ain't bad.

But seriously, I agree with this. Something to show you've landed, with impact. It should be impressive.

Maybe spin the camera around, throw out a disco ball effect, and add more screen shake too. Okay, ignore that last sentence, hehehe ...

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?

**** that, I like it as it is.

I don't mind the arriving.

But I do have an issue with Gallente gates where my camera gets slammed through the solid rear end of the gate.

An arriving sequence doesnt really agree with game mechanics as you are stopped and cloaked unless it doesnt happen until after you take an action. To make this work you would have to see the grid without being there. Then it would show the sequence a and moving right into you action

Personally I'm in favor of it being exiting a portal at high speed.

If that is made as part of game mechanics as well you ship would be moving opposite the direction the stargate is pointing, possible making the option of a quick warp safe spot or other tactical considerations.

The Art Team is pretty busy doing lots of other stuff, especially lots of other V3ing. They may or may not make a quick re-design pass for the Gallente System and Gallente Constellation gates, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

In the meantime, depending on how much the gate design bothers you, you could move to Minmatar space for a while. Lots to do there.

The animation seems to be client-side only. There's no huge tunnel opening up that all can see when you jump a gate. And at the moment, you zoom out of the tunnel to your cloaked ship just sitting there... all I ask for a a flashy 'zoom to ship' style exit... enhancing what we have already.

Everything else can remain the same!

How about space lightning coming out of the warp gate? Where it doesn't damage yours or other ships?

One thing is that you don't see your ship going into the gate and flying. When you warp somewhere, you can see your ship all the way and rotate the screen, too. But when you jump, you can't rotate the screen as you like, it is rotated for you. And the jump is jerky, I mean, it loads or something mid jump which makes the animation stutter badly. The jump is so short, that the stuttering takes a big portion of the whole effect, and then you are through already.
