New Player Industry?

Are there any other budding industrialist-types out there? It seems like everyone I talk to is already tied in with some large conglomerate, or are long-time players wanting huge bulk orders. Is there a place where just-starting-out manufacturers, miners, and planetary industrialists meet to talk shop and share hints? A bulk mail option, or a chat channel maybe? I think often folks starting out want to have their own corporations, which I understand, but it makes resource sharing and collaboration more difficult. I think we all might be able to help each other while maintaining corporate independence.

Please send me a PM if you are interested in setting up recurring contract orders for miscellaneous low tech goods – minerals, modules, ships, containers, etc. One time or recurring orders considered, prices negotiable. Focus on manufacturing and ignore the tax and broker fees killing your bottom line in the markets by working through private contracts. If you aren’t moving the amount you want to be moving, hit me up. Maybe we can work something out.

I'd recommend that rookies avoid industry until they have a basic understanding of EVE, and a comfortable amount of ISK in their wallet. Industry tends to be ISK intensive, in my experience.

There are bulk order mailing lists (at least two), and chat channels for BPO trade and the market (like the SCC lounge).

The Science & Industry and Market forums would have more on this. Try reading the resource stickies too.

OP post is also bordering on an advertisement, and there are two forums for those: Want Ads and Trade, and Sell Orders

I wasn’t looking to advertise so much as start a discussion about how/where new players can be comfortable entering the industrial trades (Salvaging, Mining, Manufacturing, etc). I’ve found that often times new players are intimidated by the chance of being duped or scammed, so if sending me a PM to work it out is what they prefer – I don’t charge ISK to receive mail and am always willing to entertain a deal.

It is looking for an opportunity to share knowledge and resources among new capsuleers, to help mitigate some of that learning curve that you yourself mention.

A few associates and I have begun working together, outside of any corporate structure (some of them are actually working for separate corps), and have been using each other's networks to further all of our individual gains. It has helped tremendously to expand each of our chosen industries. A sort of business incubator. We're not going to challenge any of the large corporations at this time, but I agree that there may be some value in developing a broader network of 'newb' industrialists.

There are two bulk order mailing lists? How do you find mailing lists you'd want to join?

New target lock death animation problem #1 ^ eye strain and pain Temporary workaround found to one of these.

No clue. I have asked the same thing a couple times.

There is a Bulk Trading mailing list that I've joined. It is marginally useful, but a lot of the prices are pretty steep considering the volume of trade.

There is an RvB Bulk Trade list that I havent found yet, I dont know the name for certain. There is a 'new' Bulk Trade list talked about in the Market section but I havent joined it so I can't comment on that one.

I dont know if there are others or not, someone eluded to PvP mail lists which I don't really understand (what is discussed/sent?) but I would love to hook into a more industry-science related list if it is out there.

I dont know how easy it is to make your own, but maybe that is something worth considering.

The best advice I can give a starting industrialist is to find somewhere fairly quiet - not Jita or any other major market hub - and start by building rigs and ammunition. Dont tie up your capital by buying researched BPOs, but work off BPCs - rig BPCs especially are cheap.

Build a couple of things, see if they sell, and if they do, build more and sell them.

Be aware of tools like www.eve-central.com and remember that Jita is wholesale, and that you'll be competing with people with more skill points and capital than you, so find a small niche and make it work.
